Busy blaming America now.

There were good things tonight and vs the bruins. I'd like to see some goals earlier but add Malkin and maybe this isn't close?

Bylsma again refuses to abandon the stretch pass and it resulted in a ton of icing calls. It doesn't have to stop, but it has to be at least cut back a bit. Toronto carried the pick through the neutral zone with ease and gained our zone many times. We rarely did that, it's always the stretch pass to a chip and we rarely won the race for it.
Oh and our power play is a beauty. Watching it live was even worse haha. Just shambles, disorganized and full of poor decisions.

The stretch pass is here to stay. They want to establish a forecheck and it get the opponent's D turning their backs to retrieve with minimal effort. If there is a time when it doesn't work because of an icing call, then perhaps that is a poor decision or pass by the D? They just beat a bunch of good teams by scoring big time goals, and you think the stretch pass is an issue?
The "system" is a conglomeration of a bunch of situational pacifiers for every team. You can adjust certain areas here and there, but when you mess with some things you may have more negative outcomes than positive. The stretch pass if executed well is an easy way to flip the ice, and to defend it creates gap no matter what - and gap is genrally good for the Pens. The amount of faceoffs from icing is usually countered by the wearing down of the opponent's D. Winning the race is not the only positive outcome.
In terms of the PP, it has been pretty successful and the Leafs and Bruins were very aggressive in taking away space. The Pens were not crisp with the passes though, and every slight bobble was pounced on by the Leafs. I am not concerned about the PP at this point. Not everyone has the quickness on the PK that the Bs and Leafs have.
