You're probably a supporter for Despres+ for Jack Johnson deal the way you sound. And that's a bad deal.

No, need. I use my eyes, I watch the games. Despres is a stud. And the way Bylsma is making him rotate, I don't want it hurting his development.

Watch the personal comments. Lets stay on topic with hockey, not insults.

I tease/mock peoples comments from their posts. I don't insult people.

Wouldn't calling me "Randull" be an insult?

Or does that rule not apply to you?

Anyways,

My point isn't just the Record Rand...I just don't like them toying with Prospects.. and with DB it seems inconsistent. He sticks to his guys to much maybe. I'm happy with Beauner, but why is he in a set spot already but Despres keeps getting rotated. I can't see any reason why Engelland should ever play over Despres ever.

I also fear that Bylsma will stick with the dead weight on the bottom 6 for far too long and it could hurt this team in a long playoff run.

the pens are 20-8 with engelland this year, and he usually plays against the tougher matchups. why should we scratch him? he's doing good too

Forward vs Defense is so different, it's not even in the same zip code.

So, if the Pens never played Despres, they would be .500 right now?? Holy smokes!

If I recall correctly, Despres was scratched for that first recent Boston game for Engelland. I felt like the logic was, ruh-roh Boston is a tough team, better put our tough guy out there! He couldn't keep the crease clear, and I don't even think he attempted. This is one of our biggest problems. I might be thinking of the Philly game were Simmonds was around the net all game. I just don't see the value in playing Engelland over Despres.

I think its still fair to say that Bortuzzo could be better than Engelland in the near future, but one bad "rookie" game and hes in the dog house. Will he even play again this season? He's getting no development now because we can't send him down. I don't have a good answer but the Engelland - Bortuzzo line looked tough to play against.

My problem with how often Despres has been scratched this season doesn't have really anything to do with their record being much better when hes in the lineup, its the fact that he is consistently been one of the best guys on the backend everytime he has played. And he has certainly way outperformed Engelland and even Orpik. I understand you aren't going to sit Orpik, but there isn't a reason Despres should be sitting for Engelland. He's so much more skilled and he been better than him from the start.

Letang Despres
Martin Orpik
Niskanen Eaton/Engelland

I feel good about that defense going into the playoffs. However this rotating junk won't cut it.

This... Sid never even sniffed WBS. He was an 18 yr old rookie and hit 100 points in the NHL. Not sure there is a reasonable comparison here.

I think that he's still got a lot to prove.

23-8

Which also happens to be the same as the record this year with Tanner Glass. And when Dan Bylsma is behind the bench.

his ranking in this debate aside, consider this:

NHL team already missing its Hart Trophy winning center loses the Norris favorite and league leading scorer among defensemen to injury and is forced to press a healthy-scratch, rookie defensemen into action.
Just how precipitous a drop-off does that scenario portray? I'd say that it SOUNDS like a very terrible situation that would leave any team's d corps severely altered. But the reality is far different. Is Despres as good as Letang? Of course not. Has he played remarkably well, earning my confidence and leaving me excited for his future? Absolutely. Was he the player I was worried about in 58's absence? No.

I'd say that's a credit to bylsma knowing how to manage his d-men. Orpik and Martin did the heavy lifting, and the other 4 guys pretty much played interchangeable minutes.

C'mon Froggy. This is LGP. The only time a coach is responsible for anything is when the team is losing.
