I never got to see the original - we had moved to SC in August 1990.

I was underage, so no sports bar for me. I have no idea how I kept up with the Pens pre-popular Internet - but I distinctly remember watching Headline News' sports updates - at 20 and 50 past the hour (?) to check the score of this game. The highlights came much later in those days. I'm spoiled by instant highlights on the Gamecenter app.
