Pens should lower my ticket prices because of this.

Anyone who is fretting over this move should turn in their blue jerseys :pop:

It only happened because they need a roster spot to activate Letang. Bennett is going to get send down 2 when Geno comes off IR. Both will be back after April 3rd.

With Despres going down, Wilkes Barre will start cashing in some wins.

I was one of Despres' biggest supporters when he first came up and people were pointing at his uneven play in WBS. I think this kid is as talented as Letang, but is actually less of a high wire act.

That said, I am sure the kid was told why this happened. It wasn't because he just set up the winning goal in OT against the Flyers by holding onto the puck while the line change happended - and not just panicking and dumping it in.

Bennett may very well go down too, but if it happens he'll be back too.

It would make ZERO sense to add to the depth of this team and then risk losing anyone (even Glass) by exposing someone to waivers.

Engellend isn't in the top 6 now.

This is purely because he is waiver exempt, only him and Bennett are. And when Malkin is off the IR expect Bennett to also go down until April 3.

This is a business move, not an indictment good or bad on Despres.

Lets assume that it is and see what happens next week. Withholding judgement until then.

Despres will be back, and he'll have 3-4 games of playing #1 minutes, so I see this as a win.

Injuries will happen, and he will get his chance. Let's just hope its to a lesser Dman, not a key piece.

Despres should be in the top-4, Letang's D partner... or at the very least, in the top 6 until his play or injury dictates that he sits. Thus far he has earned his spot over Engelland and Eaton. But once he is back up on April 3rd he will undoubtedly be healthy scratched again before the season is over and during the playoffs, no doubt in my mind.

I see one of Eaton or despres with letang and the other benched for the playoffs. I also see them switching up

I'd be fine with Despres playing the majority of the time with Eaton in every few games instead of Despres... but Engelland should not be seeing the ice unless there is an injury or Despres/Eaton's play significantly suffers.

Ray Shero on Post-Gazette:

"The guys that are here right now are the guys, in my opinion, who are going to be here April 3 when you can expand the rosters," Shero said, adding that if the club has to move some bodies around before April 3, it will be "procedural."

They sent Despres down. It is a procedural move and he'll be back in a week. What's the fuss?

I would actually be surprised if Despres even dresses for WBS at risk of him getting hurt.

Eaton should play over Despres. The PK needs all the help it can get.

Despres will have his chance as a full-time player next season. Their D depth and needs on D should limit his opportunities right now with a healthy NHL lineup. Chances are, someone will get hurt and he'll play regularly anyway.

I said it last night, but there's no way I want Despres in the top 6 during the playoffs. It's where rookies (regardless of playing time during the regular season) get exposed.

I don't think Despres in the playoffs is a no go. Letang played most of the games in the 2008 trip to the Finals and wasn't scratched until some point in the Detroit series. He held his own for the most part. Despres shouldn't be in the top six mainly because there are six other D that should be in the lineup before him.

Relax, it's strictly a limit move. Rosters are no longer limited as of next Thursday, he'll be recalled then.
