I don't think it was intentional, but the team sure did with the way they went after Gionta.

I think the context is important too. There was about a minute left in the second period and Fleury had not given up anything. I can see the player of an opposing team wanting to give him a bump or create some minimal havoc to potentially get Fleury off of his game. I do think Gionta bumped into TK with the intention of creating some havoc but the situation got much worse than he intended. The way he stopped and seemed to initiate contact with TK seems fishy to me. I don't think he wanted to injure MAF but I do think he intended to have MAF bumped into. I think these were two important points for the habs and they might have been frustrated about not putting anything on the board.

Gionta caused it by driving to the net like any hockey player would. You want to make him just a little bit more hesitant next time.
