Sid looking svelte. ;)

So great to have him back on the ice, but the mother hen in me wonders how he’s going to gain back the weight he lost and keep his energy level up on a severely restricted diet. Is he off the baby food yet?

I am more concerned that you have a female chicken living inside you

Haha...well, some people have multiple personalities; I opted for something a little different. I have been referred to as Attila the Hen on occasion, so I guess my secrets out.

Can you believe it would be only his second?

I have trouble remembering that he has had seasons in which he did not miss long periods of time. Its actually really easy to believe he only has one scoring title.

If he was close during the time he was leading when he got hurt this year and in 2010, it wouldn't be as bad. But he was absolutely killing the league. That is what sucks.

What would really suck for me would be Ovechkin winning the At Ross or the Hart or, God forbid, both. He seems to be in the conversation now. Who would have guessed that he would be resurrected from the dead and go on a scoring spree?

No way that happens, AO has been useless 3/4ths of the year and his team plays on the worst division in hockey.

Did anyone see the visor jaw protection combo sid was wearing. Why not go full clear cage at that point??

I was saying that too, perhaps the special chin protector provides better coverage and stability

I am pretty sure that when using a full clear cage, it uses the chin as a pressure point to snap in the cages retaining clamps. If you looks at the jaw protection part of Sid's setup, you will notice that the cage makes no contact to the chin/jaw area...

Again, I am no expert, just trying to develop a reason.

Could be the chin strap/cushion issue with a clear cage, but it could also be a fog/breathe-ability issue with the cage as well.

Yeah, no doubt a full cage uses the chin as a point of contact. If the cage would be bumped it would jar to chin and jaw. The first thing that I thought when I saw it was what MRandall25 said about fog issues. Lots of airflow, so it shouldn't fog up too bad.

Very similar to what Paul Coffey wore.

Didn't the doctor say that once the screw are set and all wounds healed he won't need any extra protection? I am guessing he is cleared to skate for conditioning purposes only right now and the bottom shield is just there right now to protect him from another freak accident.

Ha- Sid's jaw protector looks like a clear version of Hannibal Lecters mask in Silence of the Lambs

i just watched a video about sid skating on TSN and they showed the replay again and i could see his teeth fly out. Maybe it helped seeing a pic of them doing that before on a still shot but you can see his teeth fly out its insane to see it at game speed.

Off topic, and I haven't been around much lately so i'm out of the loop, but PLEASE tell me these recent Pitbull gif postings are an ironic "good luck" pic post, unlike Filet-o-Fish (b/c Filet-o-fish commercials are awesome, and Pitbull is a pile of garbage festering in rancid diapers)

oh yeah, good to see 87 back on the ice!
