THIS, again...

I'm still pretty confident he'll be in the lineup for the first game of the playoffs. That's another full week of healing.

Yeah I hope it's not wishful thinking but I just can't see Sid missing game 1- if he does miss game one then I fear he will be out longer than we are all expecting

If there is one guy that can plug and go without missing a beat, it's Sid.

I'm not worried unless he isn't playing game 1.

Yeah I feel like Sid would push himself to go game 1 even if he wasn't 100%, and would only miss it if he seriously wasn't close...

I Still Don't Understand Why He Isn't Back Yet Considering He IS eating SOft Food, Which Means Infection Is no Longer An Issue.

I mean, he'll look amazing because he's Sidney Crosby but he's generally shown to not be exactly the same after breaks (even at start of seasons for example he's usually not at his best)

He had 4 points his 1st game back last year (against the Isles).

Then he had like 4 assists versus the Jets his 2nd time back.

Hence, he'll look amazing. But I think none of us felt he was the same level of "insane' last year than he was before the Winter Classic injury or before the broken jaw this year.

The team played uninspired tonight with good reason. Probably just a coincidence it came on a night when 2 new guys were inserted after. I hope the same thing doesn't happen if we decide to insert 18 and 87 for game 1 with no regular season warm up.

The coaches know better than we do but if they dont think Neal and Sid need any warm-up games or time to gel on new lines then I'll trust them.

If Sid misses game 1 the conspiracy theorists will be out. His jaw is completely covered/protected with his shield. Fear of infection is gone. He can't possibly get hit in the jaw with his mask on. He's eating food. He's not concussed. He's been skating for a while. Why in the world would he miss game 1 if he has an injury that can't be re-injured and everything else on his body is 100%?

From the gist of Shelly's tweet it sounded like it's a matter of the bone being healed enough to get the go ahead for practice or contact. Once he's cleared to practice with the team and taking contact the rest will take care of itself. But... I hate this.

Some of the doctors on the board could shed some light on it. (Normally we say that as a joke but as we know there really are doctors on here)

I'd say for the first time I am a bit concerned about his return. If he is not in the lineup for game 1 I don't think we see him until round 3 or 4....

I'm not going to let myself get caught up in this again like I did in 2011. Hanging on every little snippet of news hoping beyond hope that Crosby would come back against Tampa Bay and fretting as each day went by and he wasn't there. Back then it was because we knew Geno was out for the year so I felt like Crosby coming back in the playoffs was our only chance at having any kind of shot at a playoff run.

This year is different......until I see him taking warmups for Game 1 I'm just going to assume he isn't playing. With Geno and probably Paul Martin back along with all the moves that GMRS made at the deadline I feel like we have a team that can make a run without Crosby (and/or Neal) and that is my mindset going forward. If they play...great...if not....we still have the horses to go deep.....

I saw Bylsma adjust his glasses when he gave the update on Sid - this can only mean that Sid will be out for another two weeks.
