Randy Carlyle chimes in...

Postby pens2005 on Mon Apr 01, 2013 3:07 pm

@JoshYohe_Trib: According to @kevin_mcgran Randy Carlyle thinks the hockey gods broke Crosby's jaw.

Ugh...what a dolt!

It's a second hand quote out of context. I'd like to read what he actually said before passing judgement.

You thought we deserve to suffer injuries because we traded for Iginla? Interesting.

And listening to ridiculous flyers fans calling this karma because Sid slashed Giroux's wrists during a phantom faceoff is absolutely absurd.

I think the idea of hockey gods is absurd in general, and when anything happens its blamed on that. So yep, I just attribute any unlucky play to the hockey gods.

I blame the hockey gods. They do not want Malkin and Crosby to be together for a long period of time.

The hockey gods are also upset Martin is having a fantastic season after blowing chunks last year. And they keep injuring Tanger because of his greasy hair. They don't like the look.

I will believe there are Hockey Gods when the Leafs collapse and miss the playoffs yet again- as long as it's not to the benefit of the Flyers.

Lottery Balls dropping for the Pens, lucky bounces, puck luck, career years, good/bad trades or drafts. Call it whatever you want, there is a lot of chaos and order in what you see as hockey. Superstition reigns supreme in hockey and to be as "good" as Crosby is..... I believe there are other things going on that our best theories simply don't have answers for.

I've eaten crow, and been called worse than a dolt.

Personally I just chalk everything negative to the team has crap happens and nothing more. I don't believe in superstitions and I don't believe "hockey gods" would have it out for a certain player or a team just because they won a lottery or because a player on that team is very good, because if that's the case the Edmonton Oilers will be in huge trouble in the future by the hockey, because after all they got the #1 pick THREE years in a row. That obviously will come with dire consequences if we really believe in this school of thought.

Pretty sad that many of you really believe the crap he's spewing.

Even if Carlyle thought it was some type of karma that led to this, what is he inferring that the Pens or Sid did to deserve this? Because they have a good hockey team and people want to play for them? Sounds like pure jealousy to me.

I'll take a couple weeks without Crosby as reparations to the hockey gods. Only seems fair, relative to the justice their meting out to that jack-wagon franchise this season.

I really liked Randy when he was with the Penguins.....the only Penguin to ever win the Norris trophy. Too bad he is talking nonsense like this now.

A bit of trivia, especially for those who like to discuss +/- numbers: Carlyle still holds the record for worst +/- for a Norris winner - he was -16 that year.

There are hockey gods. How many of us have witnessed someone failing at what should have been an easy play to clear a puck, and immediately think " that's going to end up in our net"?

The hockey gods may not be as active as some think, but they have little tolerance for ****ing up an easy clear.
