RIP to franchise's worst -- and most cursed -- sweater. Memo to NHL: Next alternate design, remember team's first name, too. Black & gold.

What does he mean, "remember team's first name"?

My guess would be diagonal PITTSBURGH.

he's merely saying the the colors of all teams in pittsburgh are black and gold. the penguins 3rd jersey should minimally contain these colors

I wonder if Crosby angrily scribbled something on his whiteboard that he'd had enough. Wouldn't blame him if he did.

FIFY.

Well, I'm a bit biased as my first season as a major Pens fan was 1974-75. I wasa casual fan prior to that but my dad started playing basketball and hanging out with a friend of his named Bob Beers. Bob had a son named Bobby who was into hockey big-time.

They got me interested in the Pens. That year the Pens were eliminated by the Islanders in the quarter final round (after getting out to a 3-0 lead).

It was a great year for hockey and the Pens Definitely did not "Suck" that year.

Supposedly they were going to introduce a new third jersey next season anyway.

If they actually cut them off early because of a supposed curse I'm pretty disappointed they'd be so foolish and ignorant. They might as well do away with all of their uniforms because there have been plenty of Pens injuries in recent years, both minor and significant, and the greatest amount came with the regular jerseys on. The group think that the blue jerseys are cursed is dumb.

Personally, I've liked both of the blue thirds. I thought the most recent ones were very sharp. They were always going to do away with them after a few seasons because there are plenty of other nostalgic jerseys they can cash in on next.

maybe getting rid of the blue jerseys will help them win an afternoon game once in awhile or get a halfway decent faceoff%.

Zed's dead.

Thank you.

I first saw the "Say LOL WUT AGAIN" image and later a reference to Zed. I couldn't help myself.

I said in another thread, I would like to see the current logo be updated (new eyes, beak, legs, etc.), and for the old 80's triangle logo to become our third.

Superstition is part of hockey. And our best player is one of most superstitious in the game. He's been seriously injured twice in those jerseys. I wouldn't half doubt if he refused to wear them again...

I sure hope the people basing Randy Carlye in the other thread are not the same ones cheering that the Blue's are going away though.

Why so much love for the Rangers-esque diagonal jerseys? They look ok, but I'd hope there's something more creative out there.

The 1974-75 Road jerseys were the first ones to give a nod to the fact that Pittsburghs colors were black and gold

It is amazing. Other teams are worried about who they are getting or moving at the TDL; but Pens fans are rejoicing over the dumping of a supposed "Jinxed Jersey". Dump the blue; but I'd be in favor of keeping the circular logo; a nice way of keeping the old and new. Keep the mustard color jerseys in the retirement box!

If the blue jersey holds some mystical ability to injure, how do we think it will react to knowing ahead of time that it's being mothballed? Shoulda held off on the announcement.

Liked the powder blues. These? Not so much. I don't really hate Vegas gold, but I think the beige they wear nowadays is kind of boring and I would prefer if the old gold color came back. A third jersey with that old shade of gold might open some doors, who knows? There are examples of other teams going back to their old brighter colors.

Canning a blue alternate jersey earlier than originally planned? That's never happened before, has it? Actually, it has:

Bring on the all yellow gold, baby! And if not those, I will take either jersey from the original Cup run.
