Point primary puck carrier on the PP

Postby headh on Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:27 pm

I feel like Paul Martin has looked like our best guy in this role. With him out who do you think is our next best guy in that role? Letang has the skills but lacks something necessary in that role. Niskanen? Geno? Who?

My pick would be Despres

I don't really think we have a guy who can consistently bring the puck up on the PP.
I still like Letang over Martin due to his speed, but he does some really mindless stuff with the puck sometimes.

In this current lineup the only real option is Geno.

As an aside, was there ever anyone better at this than Kovalev? Automatic entry every damn time.

No. I think our PP is going to suffer without Paul Martin. I also think a discussion about who his replacement should be and could be interesting on any hockey message board and completely relevant on a board titled "Pittsburgh Penguins".

You aren't HH, pal. He was responding to the Kennedy comment.

oh.

my screen name is short for head hunter (HH)

Tyler Kennedy was chosen to replace Sidney Crosby on the first line so he is clearly a candidate to run the point on the PP.

The guy may have been trolling but hopefully you understand my confusion.

is the subject of this thread just a long way of saying 'power play qb?' or is he talking about who is going to carry the puck up the ice and enter the zone? also, sydney is a city in australia.

Despres should at least be given a shot, especially with Martin out. The kid has worked hard, and it's been proven in the past that he can handle more minutes.
