I'm actually pulling for the Rangers as a 1st round match-up because the other most likely options - NJD, NYI, PHI - all give the Pens trouble on a regular basis. The Pens have absolutely owned the Rangers for years.

It doesn't go as expected for Del Zotto (as Neal doesn't initiate contact with him as one might expect in that situation), he tries to get a piece of Neal and unfortunately he conks him in the brain bucket. Like I said before, I wouldn't have minded a look at it...but I can't, in all good conscience, call bloody murder here...

Um... Citing an example of another blown call only proves one thing... referee & league incompetence.

What's wrong with what Koivu did there?

How is that a blown call? Neal did the exact same thing a few games ago and we all thought it was a great hit, because it was. MDZ's hit was an unsuccessful brace for contact that resulted in an elbow to the face. It should have been a penalty. It wasn't. Move on.

It's textbook elbowing.

45.1 Elbowing - Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a manner that may or may not cause injury.

45.2 Minor Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a minor penalty, based on the degree of violence, to a player guilty of elbowing an opponent.

45.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player who uses his elbow to foul an opponent. A major penalty must be imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent (see 45.5).

Neal put his ass into someone... He didn't elbow or follow through with an elbow.

if you're afraid to face any team first, - book plans for golf trip today. They have to make sure they finish first.

A healthy & determined Pens team can beat anyone in the league in a 7 game series. Trick is getting both of those together at the same time.

You obviously read/use/follow the same dubious rule book That Shannahan looks to, not sure how you can misinterpret such a clearly written rule.
