Bennett recalled anew 4-7

Postby relantel on Sun Apr 07, 2013 11:02 pm

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Beau Bennett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Bennett, 21, collected three assists in four games with WBS during his most-recent AHL assignment. On Friday night, Bennett earned the primary assist on Alex Grant’s overtime game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms.

Bennett - Malkin - Iginla

Not sure if this will happen, but what a chance to skate with some serious skill/experience for this kid.

Malkin is a lucky guy.

Naw, Bennett will go to the fourth line, Morrow to second, and TK back to third. #JackAdams

Blow up all the lines.

So the line-up at practice today had BB on the 4th line with both Jeffrey and Vitale sitting. I think this points to the fact that BB will be a role player getting PP time and possible odd combinations with the higher level lines. He did a great job on PP earlier and Neal is out for awhile. I'll take that.

IMO it's a real waste to put BB on the 4th. If Morrow is to play on the second line, it's far better served to have BB with Cook and Sutter. Kennedy's style of play suits the 4th line far better than BB.

Agreed. BB has been far more defensively aware than I expected but 4th line duty with Glass and Adams? I bet he'd rather stay in WBS!
TK hasn't looked right all season, I really don't know why Bylsma has reconstructed that 3rd line, it had no chemistry whatsoever.

GP G A PTS +/- PIM Shots PCT Hits ATOI
Kennedy 38 5 4 9 -2 15 85 5.88 31 12.12
Bennett 19 2 7 9 7 4 21 9.52 21 11.58

Speaking of chemistry, all four of these lines will be broken up when Sid/Neal return unless Bylsma intends to keep Kunitz-Geno-Iggy. After all the stuff about keeping Sid comfortable with his wingers and 'you don't break up the best line in hockey', switching players from left to right then back again, opting to play TK above BB - it just makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

I was actually looking at line combos for next year, starting on top and working down. IF we inked Dupuis and Iginla (or a comparable), the third line could look something like 19-16-36. That would be pretty strong in my book.
