Neither the Bruins or NHL have anything on their websites about the game being canceled. Nothing on my twitter feed, either.

And MLB has said nothing about the Red Sox game, just David Ortiz.

Bruins are fighting for a 2 seed with Montreal and can't make this game up unless the entire playoff schedule is moved. It's not an easy call. I'd have no problem playing the game in front of no crowd. Get a crew of medics and cops at the arena with a skeleton staff and bang it out.

Why would they pull any police away from the manhunt just to play a game?

I would say a NHL or MLB game for that matter are about as low as can be on the priority list at least for today.

Imagine they do play the game and very few fans attend. It would be such an odd, quiet atmosphere. Players from both teams will probably think they are playing the Devils in NJ

It's not safe, would be a good reason to not play the game at all

Again if you play the game without fans, you still need police, medics etc there, and they are gonna need to sweep the building im sure. Why would they pull police away from the manhunt just so a hockey game can be played?

The police have more important things to be worried about than some silly hockey game.

There is no reason for this game to take place tonight.

I don't get what is so difficult to understand that it isn't just solely about how many fans can attend. The city is in a state of lock down. They (Boston PD) told people who are at work (outside of town) to get to transportation, go home, and stay home. How do arena workers get to the venue? And honestly...the law enforcement people involved don't need the distraction of a hockey game.

FWIW...it's only the X reporting that the game has been canceled.

Couldn't they just play the game next Sunday, and make sure the Pens/Bruins first playoff game isnt until the 1st giving them 2 days off in between? Chances are they would have played Saturday and Tuesday anyway

Emptynetters had a series of tweets saying Bill Daly said they are still monitoring the situation in Boston, and will make announcements when appropriate.

So no official word of cancellation at this time.

Boston is already making up Monday's game vs Ottawa next Sunday.

The Ottawa/Boston game from Monday has been scheduled for that day (the 28th). Since the Bruins already played on the 27th, the Pens/Bruins game would have to be moved to the 30th.

MolinariPG: Worth noting: NHL official says that, contrary to prevailing wisdom, CBA has NO ban on team playing 3 games in 3 days. Says is just a custom

With every delay, Crosby's jaw grows stronger. Smarter. More aggressive.

Red Sox have officially announced their game has been postponed. It's only a matter of time now for the NHL/Bruins to announce something.

It was reported last night that 10,000 police were taking part in the manhunt. At some point some of them will have to be pulled off and report for their regular duties...patrols, games, etc

If the game is cancelled I don't think it will be because they couldn't spare the manpower.

He disappear entirely... his body in a river somewhere... or he holes up in a safe house indefinitely... what happens then? Got to get back to normalcy.

It will be canceled. Can't guarantee security, can't ask everyone to stay in their homes and be safe and expect stadium workers to come out and work for a hockey game.
