But I still don't expect 14-87-9 to be broken up unless Sid requests to play with Iggy.

Iginla hasn't been at his best with Geno nor Jokinen. We'll see the best of Iggy when he plays with Sid. I think he gets slotted with Sid.

I think this lineup looks unreal. I would expect Adams over Kennedy on the 4th line, and if it's not Bennett, it will be Kennedy on the third. Or you could put Bennett back with Geno, bump Dupuis to the third, and Kunitz back to the 1st. Dupuis will make our 3rd line downright amazing.

This team has been playing so well in the absence of Crosby, Malkin and Neal that I say for the sake of team chemistry, just keep everything the way it is now and throw 18, 87 and 71 out there on a line together when they return. You know, that looks even better after typing it out than it did when it initially crossed my mind.

In all seriousness, though, I know that this will never happen and there's probably plenty of good reason for that. But think about it.. take this team and the way they've been playing since their 2 losses, and add a line of Crosby, Malkin and Neal! How bad could that possibly be? LOL

pcm wrote:Bennett and Morrow are both playing great, and look to have some obvious chemistry together. Add Jokinen to that line who has been playing the best hockey of his career and you've got the potential for a difference making line in your bottom 6.

That would leave Sutter with Cooke and Kennedy/Adams/Glass as your checking line.

Iginla and Neal don't look to have chemistry going with anyone. But since Neal has the history with Malkin and Iginla with Sid, I'd put them together.

Dupuis can switch to LW and keep playing with Sid.

Dupuis-Sid-Iginla
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal

Cooke-Sutter-Adams
Morrow-Jokinen-Bennett

You have seen Kunitz with Iginla lately, though I think it may not be by choice. As much as I love the idea of Bennett playing, I'd be pleasantly surprise if he is active in the playoffs based on Disco's aversion to playing rookies. That being said, if they are all active, I'd go with.....Kunitz--Sid--Iggy; Morrow--Geno--Neal; Cooke--Sutter--Dupuis; and Adams--Jokinen--Bennett........Glass would be the first off the bench.

these make the most sense to start the playoffs in my opinion.....

Dupuis-Crosby-Iginla
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal (although Kunitz/Dupuis could easily be flipped if they want)
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Bennett-Jokinen (12th forward can be rotated between Kennedy, Glass, and Adams with whoever plays well staying in)

Kunitz, Dupuis, Jokinen, Cooke, and Sutter can kill penalties if Adams/Glass are not in the lineup

Bennett and Jokinen can be shifted up and down the lineup at times as well as have Crosby/Malkin double shift between them..... they also can form a solid 4th line with one of Kennedy/Glass/Adams....

Given the fact the Kunitz has been working with Iginla and working ont he PK, that may be some foreshadowing

Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Dupuis
Cooke-Jokinen-Adams

Hopefully... maybe this is just my wishful thinking

Can we please stop with all the Bylsma is against playing rookies mentality? I want to see Bennett play as much as anyone, but if he doesn't, it's not because Bylsma hates rookies. He's apprehensive to play rookies in big moments because, guess what, they are rookies.

With the sudden forward depth we now seem to possess (thanks RS), I simply cannot see any reason why Kennedy should be playing once the postseason gets here. If he killed penalties that would be one thing, but Adams needs to be in over him all day on the 4th line.

Doesn't matter what Bennett does, he isn't playing in the playoffs. Don't agree with it but Kennedy will have to literally die on the ice for Bennett to even get a sniff.

What Bylsma will do:

9-87-12
14-71-18
10-16-24
27-36-48

What i would do:

9-87-12
14-71-18
10-16-19
24-36-48

I was doing some stat reviewing last night. For the amount of games played and ice time received, Bennett is one of the most productive players the Pens have not from the original top line. You know that the coaches see these stats and tons more. What sticks out in particular is how incredibly more productive Bennett is over Cooke, Kennedy, and the 4th liners. If Dan has any stones, I think he has to go with Morrow and Bennett on a line centered by either Jussi or Sutter.

My guess is he doesn't have the stones and will sit Bennett. It might sound odd but the most unproductive Pens player is Mark Eaton.

there's very little evidence that adams is still an effective penalty killer. jokinen is a capable replacement. if anyone is going to bump kennedy out, i'd rather it be glass. he's a serious banger.

I never do this, but in my allergy-medication grogginess, I started putting together lines:

9-87-12
14-71-18
10-16-24
27-36-19

Now, before yinz flip out that the new shiny toy (Beau) is on the 4th line, we all know how fluid these lines are. If Dupuis or Cooke are out for an extended PK, Bennett could slide into a higher line. He would also get 2nd PP time. I like the idea of protecting his minutes, even slightly, during his first playoff run. The physicality ramps up, and he could be outmatched out there at times, if on a higher line.

Jussi can play wing. I'd put him with Sutter and Morrow assuming beau is scratched. Jokinen and Sutter can both take faceoffs assuming either gets kicked out.

I would like to see -
Dupuis - Crosby - Iginla
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Morrow - Jokinen - Bennett
Cooke - Sutter - TK/Glass/Adams

sutter's a fine 3rd liner (i guess), but jokinen has out played him in his time here. it's a deep lineup, and sutter's not a guy who makes it a priority to get him ice time. i don't see why he's immune from getting bumped to line 4.

A few weeks ago i would of never had Bennette playing in the playoffs. But i got to admit the kid got game and has looked great of late. Imagine a 3rd and 4th line of:

10-36-19
24-16-48

The ammount of offence up front is scary.

He's certainly played his way into the lineup. I'd start him off on Malkin's wing.
