just read that Mark Fraser rejected Toronto's two-way qualifying offer. Could be the big body defenseman we've been looking for because i dont think Murray will be back

Russo says Clutterbuck to Pit makes sense.

Neither is Clutterbuck. He's a hitting machine but beyond that he doesn't offer much.

Disheartening, but not surprised, that Duper talks are far apart. Maybe GMRS gets that 2nd round pick he's looking for for his rights?

I could see a Niskanen getting moved for a 2nd. Not Dupuis rights...

I'm not a big Niskanen fan at all...

They only move Niskanen if Letang is resigned, or a suitable replacement is brought in as part of the trade.

If I am Shero..I shake up this team. If both Letang and Duper don't want the offers, cya! Do they not realize a lot or MOST of their success is due to teams putting focus on Malkin and Crosby? This allows them to have more open ice to score. I am tired of hearing how these players want to stay here or Love playing here but when it comes to push or shove, "Cya...they are outta of here." I would not resign "Cooke, Duper, Letang, Adams, Kennedy." It's TIME to turn the page! THere are plenty of others who could be come Dupers or Cooke's who would LOVE to take the ice with Crosby or Malkin who both have shown, their loyalty to the Pens, the fans and the city of Pittsburgh. So Good bye, Good Luck and live with the
you will face on your new teams boys when you show you can't play at that high level and you are indeed OVER PAID!

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC 28s
Would not be surprised if action on a D like Matt Niskanen heats up as PIT looks over its long-term contract situation.

If they can get a pick for Niskanen, signing Murray isn't the worst option.
I have no idea what he wants, of course.

Montreal and L.A. are interested in Iginla. How about Iginla's rights to L.A for Brandon Kozon

Iggy for a 2nd round pick I would do. Shero stated he wanted to get into the 2nd round.

Niskanen for pick(s) I'm fine with too.

I have no problem bringing back crank shaft for the bottom pairing. Substantial decrease in pay however...

Is it worth it to trade for someones rights anymore now that teams have that 4 day period to talk to soon to be free agents?

Honestly, this team was more than fine in March before the deadline. The only move that was needed was licking Jokinen up to fill in for Sid.

Thoughts on Jokinen's ability to replace Dupuis? Both play everything well, can score and penalty kill. With Letang's new deal I'd say Jokinen and Bennett will need to be top 6 guys and both are fine in that role on this team with Crosby, Malkin, Neal and Kunitz.

Bottom 6 looks to be Sutter, Kennedy, Glass Vitale and two more guys. Jeffrey on 3rd line might actually work and then Adams or Zolnercyck is fin too.

Again, this team as is with lesser role players on the bottom 6 is good enough to make the playoffs, save as much cap space now and make moves if needed but not for the sake of making moves. The Ignila trade was one of the worst for us franchise and ruined all chemistry they built for almost 6 weeks.

from Russo

I've been reporting that the asking price for Cal Clutterbuck today has been a second and a prospect. I hear one concept the Wild has explored the past few days is getting a defenseman back in a trade for Clutterbuck.

One team that has shown a lot of interest the past few days is Pittsburgh. The Wild has had interest in the past in Simon Despres, but the one guy I keep hearing is Virginia, Minn., native Matt Niskanan.

I agree concerning how the team was formed with everyone back. Iginla, Jokinen and even Morrow were producing and then with Sid back were miss used.

MAF has to go.

His cap space in relation to performance makes no sense at all given the amounts the Pens' core players are now signed at.

Hard to be used correctly when a MAJOR piece of the roster is sitting out a month with a broken jaw. There was no time to attempt to build chemistry with Sid.

Kunitz-Crosby-Bennett
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Vitale-Adams
Jeffrey - Zolnyrchuck(sp)?

Martin-Orpik
Letang-Despres
Engelland-Niskanen
Bortuzzo-Dumoulin/Harrington

Looks a lot like the team that was on a 15 game winning streak.

Can't remember exactly but what line was it that did so well for a run there? Jokinen-Iginla-Dupuis? Or Morrow and Jokinen with someone?

Should've let Kunitz-Geno-Neal re-unite. Oh well, that's ancient history now.
