And while we're on the subject of pronunciation. The PA announcer, when the Pens take the ice before that game, it soundt to me like he is saying "your Pittsburgh Panguins". Am I the only one who has noticed this, or is it just because I say "y'all" and you say "yinz"?

Agreed. I don't like the way he announces "Ca-ros-by".

I miss the old announcer. Didn't he get throat cancer or something? I'd have to imagine that being the worst kind of cancer to get if your job involves speaking...

And I may be showing my age here, but Nat King Cole died of throat cancer. One of the greatest singing voices I have ever heard.

Correct. Consol Energy was originally then "Consolidated Coal Company" - Consol is short for Consolidated.

It stands for consolidated energy so you pronounce it Con-Saul.

Not sure why so many people say console.

Issues with the presentation of games usually irk me quite a bit and I frequently get chastised for it around here, but I don't have the slightest issue with the PA announcer.

Met the guy. Actually a very nice person and takes his criticism quite well when others joked around with him. Just not a fan of his over the top and mishandling of player pronunciations should have been corrected after the his first year. Yes, Barbaro did this as well but only with the top one or two(Sid, Geno, Mario, Jagr) not the whole lineup. Plus he also found a way to do it with more class. Those are just my problems but thats my opinion which it really does not matter. I know some have issues with the sponsers and his commentary during the kiss cam. I don't though because that is just buisness and doing what he is told to do.

Also, I think a lot of this comes from being spoiled with Barbaro the guy has big shoes to fill. I feel bad for whoever replaces Jimmerson if you think this is bad wait until that happens.

I'm more interested in the Mike Lange replacement when he retires.
