Maybe Nabokov? He started 41 of 48.

That may be the type of workload he needs to succeed? I think he had a 78 game season starting for the Sharks.

Totally unrelated: It would be interesting to see man-game-loss statistics of a shortened season over a complete to see how the averages stack up. With fewer games, do players play harder knowing every game counts?

This is the "deer in the headlights game for the Islanders". 5-1 Pens while establishing a physical style.

The real test will be Friday's response.

Pens in 4, just becuase they can't win in 3.

This series is vengeance for the embarrassing display two years ago. The one that left Eric Tangradi cuncussed at the hands of Trevor Gillies.

We are playing for Eric Tangradi.

These are strange days.

Bury them.

Now you have me thinking of great revenge quotes :)

Matt Martin accounted for 23% of the Islanders hits in the regular season. Does that seem crazy to anyone else? For comparison, Glass was the Penguins' leader and accounted for about 10% of the team's hits.

Means 1 or both of these things:

1) He goes out of his way to hit people

2) His team doesn't hit

Which EC coach do you think said this to Friedman?

21. Asked one Eastern Conference coach how the Islanders could beat Pittsburgh. His reply: "The Penguins are the most physical team in the Eastern Conference, hard to play against, with good speed. It's incredible how hard everyone plays. If you are not willing to stand up...it is tough on you. Pittsburgh really imposes their will on you in the first five-to-seven minutes in their own building. The Islanders do have good puck-moving defencemen. If those 'D' can get the puck before the forecheck, that's how they can play with them."

If you are suggesting by this post that the Islanders are not a very deep team, you would be correct, sir.

They have quite a few players who don't hit. And if they try to be overly physical in order to match the Pens, they could find themselves in the box quite a few times tonight. The way Iginla is firing the puck (and the way he has owned Nabokov during his career) does not bde well for the Isles in that case.
