This couldn't have gone much better, aside from the injuries. This is the focused, veteran Pens team initiating a mediocre at best, inexperienced Islanders team into the playoffs. Game two figures to be a closer game, but the Pens clearly outclass the Islanders.
Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad. They've got the depth to handle them, but the Jokinen injury especially is tough to take with it being a cheap shot in the closing minutes of a blowout. Should be a suspension but what does it matter? The Islanders lose a fourth line scrub, Pens lose a good player... who probably would be a fourth liner with a fully healthy lineup.
