Along with Suter and Subban, and despite missing 13 games. :thumb:

:face: You do realize it's a regular season award, and he was lights out in the regular season.

Congrats to Tanger, unfortunately the NHL will be tripping over themselves trying to shove the trophy into Subban's hands

I do realize it's a regular season award. But, do you 'turn it off' when it's actually time to 'turn it up'?

Paul Martin was a better defenseman than all three of them but he doesn't score points so there you go.

They should just make it an offensive d-man award. And create another for defensive d-man.

No, I think it's great he was nominated. But it really is an award for a offensive d-man. Stay at home guys need love too.

Make a Bobby Orr trophy for the best 2-way defenseman which can be hijacked by the guys who score like Karlsson, Letang, Greens and Subban.

I don't know, of all the awards, the Norris is the one that tends to go to the veteran's and changes hands infrequently. Karlsson was fairly unprecedented. I thought Lindstrom still might get nominated :)

Yes, they do, but do they really need a trophy? The Norris has always been about overall performance, and a big part of that is transition.

Yup.

Letang is too weak defensively for the Norris IMO, but if they're going to go off offensive merit then he was the best offensive defenseman in the league this year.

Who knows what Kristopher could have done if not injured.
Regardless, congratulations to him!

In a vacuum, sure, a defensive d-man award would be fine...but these people obviously can't grasp the Selke...and they just passed on the best rookie this year (a defensive d-man, Jonas Brodin) all together...do we really think they could judge a defensive d-man award?

Additionally, Suter is a defensive-minded d-man and he'll probably win the award...so take some solace in that...

Some little talk on this here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=60373&p=2385137&hilit=Selke#p2385137

Most of the PHWA writers who have revealed who they voted for had Suter. This is of course only those I have seen and not the full membership, but Suter seems like a strong favorite.

Congrats to him. I think Suter wins it, but I do think Letang gets one in the future.
