Will the Pens win this series?

Postby The Current One on Wed May 08, 2013 12:50 pm

If Vokoun is in net tomorrow - yes, and in six games. If Fleury is back in, it's over.

No. We have seen this act before. I would love to be wrong, but no.

I say no. This feels a lot like the Montreal series to me. They'll probably win game five but they won't be able to help themselves from giving poor follow-up efforts with more blown leads. This team is rotten.

Based on the evidence so far, no. If they magically start playing better, yes.

I agree with this statement. And it's not just because Vokoun will play better than Fleury - for various reasons, the rest of the team will play better in front of him.

If we get out of this series while playing putrid hockey, we'll get our collective asses handed to us by ottowa. I do think vokoun will start and we'll
manage to get through it, though.

Yes. As much as I feel like the sky is falling, this team is defeating itself. I know they can fix that if they just calm down and get back to their game.

That being said, if Geno is as broke as we all think. Drop his icetime a bit. I wonder if the shoulder is driving him insane.

I'm really trying to be positive today BUT,

After hearing the same rhetoric by Sid and Dupuis today, my feeling is that nothing is going to change. Including the GOALTENDER.

If nothing changes, then nothing changes including the scores. Pens probably disappoint again....

No. Too many bad habits they keep falling into when the face the slightest bit of pressure. It's pathetic. Isles are playing with house money now, they should have been swept by all accounts and now turned this into a best of 3. even if they lose it's not a big deal, they have something to build on.

Pens are too tight and they have no confidence and have someone who is incapable of making adjustments in charge. Isles in 6.

I blame pens points. They didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Too many sodas, hats, and shirts. They can't afford to distribute the amount of points that a deep playoff run would bring.

No. Aside from goaltending, the team has too many problems to win two games in a row. This means a rusty Vokoun is going to have to play 3 games in 4 days, and win 2 of them, to get to the next round.

Maybe Vokoun can scream at the rest of the team again. It seemed to work for a couple months last time

At this point, I don't know. We definitely can win and I am not giving up. If we put Vokoun in or if Fleury has a better day, then I still expect us to win the series. I just don't know what goalie and what team shows up next game. Pens think that because they have more stars they can just go out and play offense and not pay much attention to a patient defensive system with our stars working on offense from within that. That's gotta be in players' heads, but it also indicates Bylsma being too soft on these guys. Why can't they just clog up the middle, maybe go to a trap, just do something else for a change. Bylsma needs to work something out quickly or who knows what happens next game. If Pens think they next one will be easy, they're in for a surprise. You know Isles' coach is telling his guys this will be most important game yet, so whatever they did in the last one, they'll be even harder to play in game 5.

Can? Of course. Will? Depends on whether Bylsma finds his balls in time to bench Fleury. Sad, sad reality, but I'm glad to see Shero has seen the situation and prepared for the future with Vokoun and Hartzell. I really honestly believe this was Fleury's last chance and may have played his way off the team with the drop in the cap next year looming.

EDIT: Apparently, Bylsma made it official that Vokoun is in net tomorrow. So, either Bylsma found the courage to pull the trigger or Shero laid the smacketh down.

Well back in 92 Frankie Pietrangelo started a game 6 vs the Caps i and stole a series for us and we still won the cup with Tommy B.

Pens will lose the next two games. You can take it to the bank. All that talent and no drive - same story for four years.

If I had a million dollars, I would bet it all that they lose. I've been seeing the same thing over and over for the last three playoffs. Like groundhog day.
