April 11, 1991: The Pens lose 4-2 to the Devils to trail 3-2 in their first-round series. Barrasso is injured and will miss the next few games.
April 25, 1992: The Pens lose 7-2 to the Capitals to fall behind 3-1 in their first round series. The Pens allowed 20 goals over the first four games.
May 6, 2009: The Pens are losing their second round series against the Capitals 2-0 and losing 1-0 after the first period of game five. Ovie continues to dominate the Pens. Not only were the Capitals threatening to eliminate the Pens, Ovechkin might also beat Crosby at the peak of their rivalry.
May 8, 2013: Pens tied 2-2 in their first round series against the Islanders. Nothing to see here. Yawn. We've got two decades of playoff drama, expectations and disappointments with over 10 years of cup contention. This should roll off us. It's way too early to give up. The Pens are locked in with no changes possible until elimination; then, perhaps, we should be too.
Enjoy the hockey. Despite some disappointments, there has been some pretty good hockey played. We'll have the entire summer to write postmortems.
