Goalies need to be able to make mistakes and have a chance to bounce back. You either make 92 your #1 or you get MAF back in. For me, its that simple.

Fleury has had four ****ing years to bounce back. He SUCKS. OUT LOUD. Vokoun stole this game for us. He stopped at least half a dozen 2 on 1s, point blank shots, and looked very composed for the entire game. Did you see him spazzing out like a little girl when the mouse in Kris Letang's brain stopped running for a second and he passed it to the Islanders and they scored? No. I say you play Vokoun and don't feel one bit of remorse about it.

That's right. V was focused and calm the whole damn game. No way Fleury does the same during the onslaught.

Isles aren't even making the playoffs next year. An AHL defense and ECHL goaltending will work itself out over a full season. Congrats on almost getting out of the first round though. You'll be looking back on this moment as a high point for the next few years.

What did he say?

He basically said we have to get Fleury back in asap.

So Vokoun carries us to the next series after our starting goaltender has yet another breakdown.

People want to go back to Fleury, run the risk of him having another breakdown, then hoping Vokoun will do it again? What will that do to Vokoun's psyche? He did his job and now you're benching him?

The idea of going back to Fleury is the kind of thing I get myself in trouble responding to, because it is absolute lunacy. Fleury sucks and we shouldn't be playing him unless we have no other choice. In fact, I would seriously consider a buyout this summer. How many seasons of Crosby and Malkin can we waste on that headcase. I went into this playoff hoping he would prove my suspicions wrong, but seriously how much does he have to melt before the organization gives up on him? He was trying to make it 4 straight disappointments before Bylsma's balls dropped and he made a man move.

Man, intense relief. Echo many of the thoughts above.

JT is the real deal. Maybe the Pens helped a a few times, but still really impressed with him. Morrow killed him in Game 1, and he did anything but disappear and was probably the best player tonight, in the biggest game the Isles have had in at least a decade.

I'm no Milbury fan, but all he said (before I switched off) was that he doesn't think Vokoun can take the Pens all the way. That's a valid opinion. I disagree...with the caveat being that the Pens play much better in front of their goalie, whoever it is.

Anyway, Vokoun has earned the start for the next series. Those saves in OT were no joke. That wrap attempt by Grabner is in the net if MAF was playing, right? Right.

I could totally see Bylsma doing this even though it would be insane to do.

There's no reason to treat MAF will any deference, at this point.
He has had more than ample opportunities to proof what he is made of....and it appears to be very little, these days.

However, I am fully bracing myself for him starting next week....But I sure hope not.

I'm real down on this Pens team but they're so talented that if you let them hang around long enough, they're probably going to eventually take the game. I give big props to Malkin, as mindless as he was playing all night, he really picked up his game and helped them take this one.

I feel relief but I don't feel good about this team. Ottawa is a better team than the one that they just had a ton of trouble with. You'd hope the Pens take this as a wake up call, but...

A much better team, but that team cannot score like the Islanders can. Lowest scoring team coming into the playoffs, and beat a pretty depleted MTL in round 1. We should not see the same troubles against Ottawa. If we can't figure out Anderson... that could be tough.

I feel like there were a lot of tight grips on sticks in this series, at least in part because of what happened last year. I think what you said is right, however since each series is 7 games, the longer this team plays, they better they are going to get.

If he craps out, which is possible, then its nice to have MAF to go back to. But this is all Vokoun right now.

Reading this gtd all at once, I have to ask.

Why do some of you even watch the game? Complain complain complain. Is it just so if Pens win you are happy and if they lose you can beat your chest you know all the problems?

Montreal wasn't a playoff team. In an 82 game season they would've been out

Saw them in 92 at the Paramount in Seattle. Great band.

I'm blasting "Burden in My Hand" right now. Not exactly an appropriate song, but I don't care.
