I don't think they gave up that much of the future considering what they brought in, also considering that I'd bet they're going to keep some of these guys, maybe even all of them depending on what other moves are made. I also think it's possible they will be able to regain some assets that they've moved. Letang could get moved, Fleury could get traded if there's a market, maybe someone like Niskanen. Lots of possibilities but I think Shero will find a way to retain a lot of the impending free agents while also making a move or two that brings back picks/prospects.

They will come back with another really good roster next year. But they may never have one that's this good again. That's why it is Cup or bust.

unless they win the cup this year, last year, and the 2 years before that, it will never be good enough for LGP.

At this point, Eastern Conference champs. I don't think any East team would beat Chicago.

Although, that depends on if the Pens play better.

Cup, or cup final loss. An exit in the 2nd or 3rd rounds are completely unacceptable given the remaining teams.

I hate this thread. I don't ponder losing during the playoffs. Reflection is for the post season.

Those players wouldn't consider anything but the Cup to be good enough.

As an organization anything less than a long SC final would be very sour. They are expected this year to win it all. There is going to be some other teams along the way that have something to say about all this. Can the Pens prevail against a league not only trying to win but with a little more motivation because of the common sentiment of the Pens being the team now to beat.

With the roster we have there is NO excuse not to be champions, not even to lose to the Hawks. The only thing between us and the cup is ourselves, and unfortunately, we've been trying to beat ourselves a lot lately.

If you asked the players and the staff, I'm sure they would tell you it is Cup or nothing. That's probably true for any team, though, but we are really built to win this year. To be honest, a lot of things can happen and that Hawks team is really good so I probably wouldn't be too hard on our guys if they just fell a little short, provided they played a good series. I am hoping for and expecting the Cup.

Gotta at least make it to the SCF. I've said since the beginning of April that there's no team in the East that can beat this team in a 7-game series and I'm standing by that still. But because we didn't play any of the West teams this year, it's really difficult to gauge how the Pens would do against the Hawks or the Kings or even the Sharks. To gauge that would be simply taking a look at both teams on paper and the eye test and draw a conclusion that might leave you disappointed if your conclusion is wrong. At least with the East, we know what the Pens have done against these teams this year and that's why it's pretty much expected that they'd better win the conference.

I think any season that doesn't end with a Stanley Cup win is a disappointment. I am always disappointed when the Pens lose. I don't know how anyone can be a fan and not be disappointed when their team loses.

I don't care if your the 8th seed, if you don't approach the game with a cup or bust mentalty your in it for the wrong reasons.

As a fan its a little different we have that pesky common sence thing going on. (well some of us) But with this team cup or bust is the only way. I can't even say SCF would be good enough, once your there you want it all, even as a fan.

I would say the Pens over the Sharks would be the best case for me. I have a bet. If it goes to that and I win I get a jersey.

A friend of mine lives in Toronto, that was her approach, we're just happy to be here. Her son had never seen a Leafs playoff game. Think about long suffering Pirate fans, they're hoping for a .500 season.

I think the Steeler approach is the best, their stated goal every year is to win the Super Bowl. That's the only approach I think has any merit.

So it's cup or bust for me, every year.

Pens playing their best is what's good enough. That is what makes me "happy". I've watched enough hockey to know when they are playing to their ability. I do not believe everything that I read, nor everything that analysts say on TV, because every source has a bias. It would be too easy to become "unhappy" if I did buy into all the emo that the playoffs bring.

If the Pens play great, but another team plays better, I have to be okay with that. Factor in injuries or terrible ref'ing and the result could not be what I want (The Cup), but I cannot fault the team and be "UN happy".
