Refreshing to hear an opposing coach own the penalty advantage. PM:"Our guys need to stop trying to be the refs and linesmen and start doing their jobs. We need to stay out of the box."

I hope they don't. Neil especially was killing them with selfish play. I was pleasantly surprised to see Geno smile and laugh at those clowns and not retaliate.

It won't happen. I'm not even sure that there was a "Let's Go Pens" chant that was purely fan-generated all game. For a game that featured your superstar Captain scoring a HT, that crowd was abysmal - and they have been this whole series so far.

His conditioning can't be up to par. I give him tons of credit for coming back so soon, but that type of injury requires a long healing process. Another big concern is the fact that Gonchar and Phillips also look tired, and the big plodding defensemen that fill out their lineup can't skate with the Pens forwards, even the slower ones.

I know that was a sloppy goal to make the score close, but the Sens never threatened after that. I don't worry about the team's ability to close games.

Pretty sure we blew one late in the year against NJ no?

I'm watching the post game stuff on TSN right now. McLean is simply stating that Karlsson wasn't one of their best players tonight, and on their team the best players play. Wasn't hinting he was hurt, just that he struggled. (which might be due to being hurt)

Karlsson is a great interview. He took full blame for his struggles tonight and said he has to be better and they have to start like they finished the game. A reporter then asked him, "what happened on the first Crosby goal there?" Karlsson's response? "Are you blind?" - rolls his eyes and shakes his head. haha. Loved it!

Would you say this 4-3 game didn't feel as close as the 4-1 game?

We have given up 4 goals in the series. One on the PP. Engelland was on for the other three.

For whatever reason the loud crowd never comes across that way on the TV side. Sounds like a library at times.

I'm not arguing. I don't really care. I've been to consol I know it can get plenty loud. For whatever reason it doesn't translate to TV. Though NBC seems to have it micd better than root did.

I agree, Root is awful for audio.

TSN and CBC do a pretty good job, much better than Root. I try to avoid watching any games on NBC, but I've read that they have it pretty quiet.

TV lowers the volume on the crowd microphones when a goal is scored. You can tell this if you have surround sound.

Place was buzzing tonight. Pretty good for a bunch of fans dating as far back as 2008, but will never be the same as the Mellon (probably due to ceiling volume).

Finally found Webster working the lower bowl. Guy is a class act, and a great beer-man. 10/10 Would buy a drink from him again

Nothing better than giving a 10 year old goalie and his crap team nothing but confidence... For 40 mins.

Even if they win the cup DB should be fired.

I'm not asking him to split the freaking atom.
I'm asking him to freaking coach.

As for morrow? Look at his ice time.

Do yourself a favor and take a vacation. You sound like you have way too much stress in your life if you're complaining about the coaching (which is an incredibly tiresome habit around these parts).

I'm in the 'sit Engelland' camp after he tried to skate with cement blocks on the 2nd Sens goal. I'm not quite sure what he brings to a team in a playoff situation. I also like Jokinen returning to the ice and I think I'd have to say that Sutter needs to sit. We need a guy that can win faceoffs on a near-regular basis. I see Sutter out there and I think I'm watching a 5th-line player. Need to see that burst that we saw in the Boston win in the regular season and that drew the penalty in the Islanders series (game 1?). As for the goaltending, I say ride Vokoun until they lose and then re-assess. Vokoun makes me nervous every time the puck gets around the crease but with the exception of Letang's brain fart on the 3rd goal, the defense has played pretty decently in front of him. While Vokoun makes me nervous, Fleury's presence downright scares me, and that's hard to say given what he's done for this franchise. But when it seems that any puck flicked out from behind the goal line somehow does a 'magic loogie' into the net, it's hard to have confidence.

Sunday's a new game and location. Let's make those Hosers cry in their Labatt's.
