per other threads and twitter: glass was skating on fourth line in practice.

I didn't even see Jussi's name listed as practicing or the last couple times for that matter. I wonder if he might be less than 100%. Otherwise, I would have expected him in.

I wouldn't have. Glass is DB's boy, he loves him and it was probably killing him to keep him out of the lineup. I'm none too surprised to see Glass in.

So we lose a 60% faceoff guy in Vitale, and could insert Jokinen who is also 60% type of guy, plus some offensive skill and solid defensively, but we put Glass in instead. Glass brings some physical game if he can keep up in the playoffs. Because of Glass being inserted over Jussi, Adams moves to center with his 42% faceoff rate this year...or whatever it is.

Doesn't make sense to me. Unless Glass is bashing Neil's face in, I don't see a need for him in the lineup. Sid, Geno, and Sutter are all under 50%. Vitale was on fire on the dot, and Jussi is over 60% this season and in the playoffs. Adams is over 50% these playoffs, but only 25 or so faceoffs, so it's a small sample size. We know historically he's not strong on the dot, so I don't really like this move at all.

Glass over Jussi? Well I hope he adds something that helps us and proves me wrong.

No, DB's boy = Adams, Glass, and Engo to an extent.

All have grit/toughness/physicality in common. I don't think it's Bylsma playing favorites, it's Bylsma valuing those characteristics and recognizing that a team needs that element. They can't just be a good offensive team.

I'm sure he's well aware of the faceoff statistics. Apparently it's not the biggest priority for him. Glass was the Pens' most prolific hitter among forwards during the season. He can easily bring something to a playoff game.

There's no point in putting Jussi out there with Kennedy and Adams. So it "makes sense", in that regard.

Uh... why not...?

But I think Jussi was practicing with a non-contact jersey the other day, so he might be hurt. Or I might just be giving DB too much credit here.

No, I don't pay attention to line-ups outside of who is in net.

Because Jokinen can't play a 4th line game. He can't grind. He can't really hit. He can't really take a hit.

I've never understood why Vitale isn't one of Bylsma's boys ... he wins faceoffs, he's fast, not afraid and he plays ball to the wall .. per Jussi, I don't see what's wrong with using a guy who wins faceoffs especially since that's been a problem at times ..

Love Glass personally and he plays a responsible game (his goonsim is unnecessary now even against Neil) ... I'd play Bennett*

Yea, but you see he didn't NHL experience prior to DB so DB hates him because of this. Engo was able to overcome this negative by being older and fighting a lot

Vitale has played under Bylsma (minors and nhl) more than any other roster player other than Engo (same amount of time).

Saying DB doesn't like Vitale is dumb and super group think mentality.

I'm not saying he doesn't like him personally, I'm saying he obviously doesn't like his game.

If he's coached him the most out of anyone except Engo, why then doesn't he play consistently? Oh, because Bylsma obviously doesn't think much of his game. He's watched him enough and obviously doesn't like his game.

So yes, I'll continue to say that DB doesn't like Vitale's game.

Wasn't "group think" a term heavily used by Draftnik?

No idea but I use it when I see an idea that is tossed into conversation that catches on to the point where people spout as if it was true and 100% fact.
