Entertaining game, both teams were able to play their system. Pens locked down the 3rd, incredible shortie by a talented veteran. OT winner scored after a weird scramble after a PK.

I'm not worried. Pens are playing well, no trip to the cup come without losses as far as losses go, this was not that bad.

GO PENS GO!

Montreal's D was so much better than the Sens is. Not even comparable.

Totally comparable. We keep blowing our chances.

We let Montreal in that series and probably did the same here.

No killer instinct.

Iginla and Neal have contributed NOTHING this postseason.

That's not good.

Other than Bylsma going with Glass over Jokinen, which was a boneheaded move IMO, I had no problem with the coaching during the game.

The power play was awful, especially the 5 on 3, and that was the difference.

If Neil is out for any length of time, it will kill the Sens. And Spezza is nowhere near 100%.

A positive spin on this:

This team needed a loss like this to get their **** together. We're going to see a determined team on Wednesday.

Lost the game because our Powerplay stunk. Blaming anything or anybody else is nuts.

A long 5-on-3, two PPs in OT, a number of opps in regulation, give up a shorty, etc...

Their goalie was great but our PP never looked overly dangerous. Fumbled pass receptions and harmless shots. The pp never looked more dangerous than when Iginla was setting up for 1-timers on one side and Malkin on the other. Haven't seen that in some time.

And yes, hockey gods/puck luck....we got none of it tonight.

Terrific game by OTT, led by Anderson.

Many brain farts by Pens with 45 seconds left in regulation.

Meh.

Overall, Pens played better. Boding well.

A good lesson for the Pens to not give up till the horn blows. They needed that in 09 and they'll need again this year if they're going to win the cup.

Lol, this team is going nowhere with play like that.

If they play like they did tonight, they'd win most games.

I haven't been this confident after a loss in a long time. Pens played a hell of a game and just couldn't beat Anderson. It happens.

I agree about the 5-3. At that point, Anderson hadn't hit his stride and gotten into the game completely, too.

Jokinen has to be hurt.

No no, Disco has to dress him some Glass because he brings so much heart. Forget winning faceoffs, or scoring, that's not nearly as important.

Overall the Pens played well. Ottawa had very few chances against Vokoun in regulation and were very fortunate to win. This series will be over in 5 games. But the Pens MUST be better on the power play if they want to get past the likes of Boston or Chicago.

I dont care what the players or the coach say, its tough to recover from a loss like that, if they lose game 4 they're in trouble.

The PP had a little different look to it tonight and I'm not sure why. They were only leading the playoffs in PP% yet something was different about how they were trying to move the puck. You would think that after the first three failed PP attempt they would have aborted the criss cross passing they kept trying every single PP. The point shots were next to nothing,,,again just a different schemed PP..but every PP? Why?

You don't change what is working..

Bylsma instructing to sit back on the remaining PP but puts out the regular number one offensive unit. :face: :face: :face: :face:

You do realize anyone at LGP can make those types of awful decisions for a lot less money.

Mark Eaton losing his stick, then he gets it back but can't tie the eventual scorer up..when he is right there in position to do so?

Ottawa can't play much better, the Pens won't go 0-6 on the PP every game. No reason to panic but I doubt the Pens win game 4 as Ottawa can live off the momentum of this OT win for atleast one game.

One thing is certain to me and that is Bylsma has zero feel to the game. Trying to make the Kunitz Crosby Dupuis line work again...ALL GAME LONG!! Iginla might have had 1/2 shift with Crosby. (Aside from the PP's)

wondermoose wrote:I actually loved that the Pens weren't pressing on the power play at the end of regulation. They were eating time and that was great. Personnel, however, is just... the biggest coaching mistake of the playoffs. Bylsma has been pretty goddamn smart about stuff so far, but if some of the powerplays the Pens had in the Isles series where they were up by 1 or 1 weren't enough, I hope this is.

Malkin and Letang simply don't have the closer's mentality. I love everything they do because it always outweighs the negatives, but the two of them are putrid with a lead.

At what point are people going to realize that Malkin and Letang are NOT smart and have low hockey IQ?

I get blasted everytime I say it and I've been saying it forever, but people are really starting to see it now. They'd defend them until the cows come home, but it's becoming more and more evident. Tons of talent, zero brains.

I've heard it all, "oh Geno, what a great play, you don't make that play without hockey IQ"....actually, most of his plays are on talent alone, Letang as well.

I've accepted it, they're super talented, but you're going to get the good with the bad because of their low smarts and lack of hockey IQ.

I can believe an injury could be possible, the last game he played he was 100% in faceoffs.

Pens need to pick 5 players for their PP and stick with them. This rotation of Neal/Iglina/Martin is screwing them up IMO.

LGP guide to losing:

3 or more goals against - blame the goalie.

Anything else - coach.

Like it was tough to recover from the Islanders losses?

Christ, this is the conference semis. The Sens aren't scrubs; so what if they win a game at home? We're the better team and will come out on top.

It's funny reading some of the posts in this forum. In all honesty, we've been the most spoiled fans since 07.
