I liked what I saw from him while he was playing right wing with Crosby. Too bad Bylsma didn't run with those lines a few games, I'm sure the second line would catch on fire sooner or later with Kunitz on the left wing bulldozing his way to the net while Malkin serving Neal with pucks! Also sure Crosby would make Iginla better...

Despite a promising start, Iginla and Crosby did not play well together. He was just too slow for a line that's been all about speed all season long. There were more than a few occasions he was MIA on the rush. There are many other options to try before breaking up the Pens' best line. Besides, the 2nd line doesn't have a problem scoring; its problem is turnovers. I'd like to see Morrow get another shot on that line.

Iginla is playing as well as anyone should have expected him to based on his age, performance and production the past couple of seasons. But like most players people are down about, I don't think he's playing as poorly as posted. Despite his ES production and occasional defensive lapse, he's done a lot of little things--and producing very well overall. I'm pretty sure he's exactly the player Pens' management traded for; not the 50 goal guy a lot of people here thought the Pens traded for. I'm glad they have him, but I wouldn't mind seeing him out of the top six to see how it goes.

The problems:
-Neither Iginla or Neal are fully comfortable at LW, both have shown to be far more effective at RW
-Kunitz makes line one or line two better but he can't be on both

I don't feel I've seen a big enough sample of Duper/Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla to declare it a bust, however I feel fully confident in saying Iginla does not work on Malkin's line (either he or last seasons 40 goal wing is forced out of their most effective position - it doesn't make sense and is terrible mismanagement of assets IMO!).

I fully endorse putting Morrow on line two, he's slow and old but adds the Kunitz type game (two way awareness and physicality to balance Malkin and Neal's offensive mindset) that appears key to making either of the top two lines click. I'd love to see the following top 2 lines for at least a whole game as I see them as making the most sense:

Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Morrow-Malkin-Neal

leaving a bottom 6 of

Cooke-Sutter-Dupuis
Adams-Vitale-Kennedy

If Iggy still looks lost with Sid then switch him up with Duper and see if his slower pace meshes with Sutter.

I don't like dropping Dupuis to the 3rd line when he's tied for 1st in playoff goal scoring.

So in addition to Bylsma not knowing we have Iginla on this team neither does the Pens Predictor:

They apparently won't accept Paul Martin either.

I'd be happy to see him play LW (he's more versatile than a Swiss Army Knife) with Iggy at RW and reunite Kunitz with Geno, but suggested those lines with the intention of maximising both Iginla and Morrow. Duper might also fit with Sutter and make the third line more productive (not that it needs to be but it would certainly calm a few people down).

dupuis should wear 42 instead of 9, for he is always the answer. #pdas
