Let's play the hypothetical game here and say that he DOES sign with the Pens... Where does he fit in with the roster for next season? I can't imagine he would be leaving the top league in his home country to ride buses in the AHL... Is the Pens brass hoping that he can fill the Murray type physical role that we seem to always be looking for? This one puzzles me, but depth never hurts.

Is he much different than Bortuzzo? Maybe they're thinking about shipping Engelland to Siberia to take his place. That would be welcome.

His offensive game is better, but his D game needs work. Probably a better skater.

I honestly have no knowledge of this player, but I think there are a lot of major changes coming down the pike this off-season for the Penguins. There are a lot possible catalysts that will cause chain reactions to the roster.

Maybe the Penguins aren't as high on Bortuzzo or Despres as they were? Eaton and Murray are UFAs after this season, Letang, Orpik and Niskanen the next. I believe the Letang situation will be addressed THIS off-season, not NEXT season. By that I mean if they're going to move Letang or players will be moved and/or not re-signed, it will likely be all addressed this off-season. I think the Penguins general plans for next three or four seasons will be handled now rather than later.

Anyway, I'm not trying to start a rumor thread, but obviously the Penguins are preparing for some sort of movement.

Edmonton gets all the FA D-men. Probably because their D sucks.

The Pens will always miss out on D like this as things are now. They're likely to have a fully stocked NHL blue line next year. Harrington joins Dumoulin as good D prospects in the AHL. Pouliot and Maata to follow the next year. Makes no sense for a guy like that to sign here where he'll have to go to the minors and compete for a chance when he can go to Edmonton and play in the NHL right away.

That game winner in the SCF next season will be plausible.

Moving from the "whatever" file, directly to file 13 (aka garbage).

Him and Sustr would just crowd an already crowded blueline. Frankly, Bortuzzo is already better at least at this very minute and Dumoulin probably will be much better than all three of them. We also have Ruopp, McNeil and Seymour in the system too if we are just looking at size. If Belov does turn out great at least he's in the West.
