Changes for Game 4

Postby The Current One on Thu Jun 06, 2013 6:38 am

I hear the Bruins will play with brooms, and the Pens with golf clubs.

If there is a silver lining to this choke job, it better start with the dismissal of Disco Dan....

I never realized until last night, how slow Iginla, Morrow and Adams are. Wow they don't have any legs anymore. On the other hand I grew a big appericiation for Kennedy and Vitale and the speed they posess.

Want to see:
Iginla scratched, Letang moved to wing in his place.
Niskanen scratched, Depres brought up.
Engellend scratched, Bortuzzo brought up.
Eaton to fill the Letang void.
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal.
Bennett - Crosby - Dupuis.
Le Magnifique on the bench. Pouring water on Dumbass Dan the entire game.

What we will see:
Another Jagr winning handshake.

Only change I want to see is 4 wins in a row and the Pens scoring 3 goals per game and holding the bruins from 0 to 1 goals.

I thought Morrow has been a beast so far this series. He's at least grinding and hitting everything that moves. Iginla is on another planet at times.

I've been waiting since he first got here for Iginla to flip the switch to beast mode...and that switch never came. He still has his shot but I expected him to be faster and a better hitter.

I'd say put in Despres and do all the line switches the fans want, but Bylsma wouldn't do that for fear of being proven wrong.

It's a shame you can't rely on a solid rookie because he wasn't given the chance to play consistently all year.

1 - Matt Niskaennen out. Paul Martin out. Simon Depres in. Mark Eaton in. Keep the rest the same. I mean Depres can let up great scoring chances just as well as Matt Niskennen, and Depres is not as soft.

Letang - Orpik
Eaton - Engelland
Depres - Murray

2 - Lines

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Cooke - Malkin - Neal
Iginla* - Sutter - Morrow ***** I would sit Iginla and put Jokenin here but that is just me.
Kennedy - Vitale - Adams

3 - Vokoun in Goal

4 - Maybe forecheck like you are playing for the Stanley Cup at some point ? Some investing ? The "investment" into the game plan that the Penguins has shown is comparable to the real estate market in 2008. Too fake, and too weak to really sustain success.

Yeah... let's take Martin out... our best defense-man...

I am going to be brutally honest. If they are going to lose the series (and in all likelyhood they will), I'd rather see the Pens lose it away than at home. I don't want to pay to watch that.

Cause he seems to be playing a bad game.

I am fully prepared to clam ignorance tho.

I do not have a good hockey background so those thoughts are through the eyes of a fan that watches every game, but has a pee wee league understanding of some of the finer points of the game.

If Martin is playing solid, that makes things easier.

Sub Eaton in for Niskanen, and be done with it.

Letand - Orpik
Martin - Engelland
Eaton - Murray

BTW, this is not a challenging statement, but what has Martin been doing so well ? Just so I can edumicate myself a little more on the game.

Martin had the main assist on the lone goal last night. Martin has also probably been one of the few players to not commit egregious gaffes in the defensive end.

Gotcha.

So by that statement, then it makes sense to keep Martin in, and keep Depres out, who while I like the kid, is know for "egregious gaffes". Which I think everyone can agree needs to be kept at a minimum.

I'd put Despres in only for the fact that he needs to learn, and Bylsma has robbed him of that throughout the regular season.

Despres for Engo is a change that should've been made before Game 3. Once again, DB will be a game late.

Also, Kennedy will probably be put in for Vitale.

martin was phenomenal last night.

9-87-12 (go down with the ship on the iggy thing)
14-71-18
10-36-19 (a line that worked every single time before it was ripped up, and has never been tried since)
24-16-48

we need goals. this is the best chance to get them

for the D - depres is in, niskanen is out

Martin is calming with the puck.
He is usually decisive and precise in his passing.
He is usually in perfect position defensively.
He rarely takes himself out of position with emotion.
He rarely takes a penalty out of frustration or missed opportunity and continues to work.
He has a bit of offensive swagger and creativeness.
He plays with a DEFENSE-FIRST approach.

If Martin had a little more top end speed, start-and-stop speed, and a little more size he would probably be top 3-5 dmen in the league imo. God didn't grant him those abilities so he is what he is. Don't let last years Zbynek Michalek drag-down not see just how good Martin really is. Martin is playing how Martin played in NJ, and that is very very very sound defense and worth every penny he is making. Last year was the fluke.

And I'd like to add Martin has been solid and consistent with his play throughout these playoffs. He's one of the very few players you can say that about.
