Why does Tyler Kennedy continue to sit in the press box?

Postby flame on Thu Jun 06, 2013 3:05 pm

First of all kudos to Bylsma for inserting Bennett into the lineup. He played well...

However, why is Tyler Kennedy riding the pine yet again?

This is a guy who has scored some big goals in the playoffs and plays well on the 3rd/4th line.

He has the speed that we need and it just seems ridiculous to me that he is not in the line-up.

He is a team high plus 6 in 8 playoff games and has 5 points in those 8 games.

I don't understand why he was the one benched for game 2 and why he still was not back in the line-up for game 3.

He was great in the two games he played versus the Islanders and was solid versus Ottawa.

He was a non-factor in game 1 of this series but so was everyone else.

Thoughts?

That 2 game streak of being benched is terrible. By the way, they played their best game of the series last night without him and worst game of the series the game before without him. I'd say the jury is out on his value given those results.

Bylsma can't win with TK apparently...

Play TK, you get "What a waste of a player. He should be sitting!".

TK is out, "Why isn't TK in the lineup?!?"

He was lousy in the regular season but I think he's been pretty damn good in the playoffs

And we all know why we lost the past two games

Tyler Kennedy wasn't the best option again. He's nothing more than 5v5. You need people who can fill multiple roles in the playoffs.

I don't know. I think the key to it all has always been Sykie. Malkin misses Sykie.

Because we have that awful Iginla taking a spot, throwing everything out of whack. Bennett and Kennedy both should be in.

Pens need speed more than anything to play Boston. Vitale was all over the place last night, Kennedy would be alos. Morrow Iginla and Adams looked like they were in quick sand. When a team forces you to the outside like Boston was doing you need guys who could do a bit more than just... well allow themselves to be pusherd outside.

I thought Adams had a pretty decent game yesterday despite his lack of speed. Was great on the PK and actually nearly won the game in OT.

Morrow and Iginla blah. Especially Iginla.

If they don't try Iginla with Sid and Duper I'd rather just put his ass on the bench. What good is Iginla on the third line seriously?

Hey man I stood up from the late stages of the second period on, so if I could do it so could TK!

There are two spots, and four players (Kennedy, Bennett, Jokinen, Vitale) vying for them. I don't think, realistically, that anyone else will be scratched.

Hopefully Shero doesn't make him an offer and he can join Bylsma if Disco gets a job as an assistant after he's fired shortly. That'll end TK questions that may rival the Lexey Morozov questions that inquiring minds posted endlessly.

Yep, there would be a thread no matter which 2 he scratched at this point.

How many playoff game-winning goals do Bennett, Jokinen and Vitale have?

Rumsfeld used to stand for 16 hours a day.

Now might be the time to release 48. He's always responded well after sitting for a few games and he gets that chip on his shoulder.

Sit Vitale for Kennedy.

1, 3, 0.

I think Bennett earned his spot, Vitale may have earned his spot in Le Chateau Nacho.

I think Bennett's per game ratio is better.
