I thought Neal gave the second best effort only to Geno. and while he was non-existent this series he was probably the best player on the ice last round.

Neal played like a rusty bucket of baby diapers. Just floated and floated and floated. darkvisor played like a paper thin weinie.

For me, the only players that definitely should be safe this offseason are:

Malkin
Crosby
Neal
Martin
Vokoun
Sutter
Bennett
Despres

I have thought this for quite some time. I think he was the bridge between HCMT and Bylsma and Bylsma and the players.

I agree. He was like a big ragdoll. Really amazed by his inability to make a decent pass. Strictly a sniper.

I'd love to hear a reason why someone would like to keep anybody from the old guard. The whole staff is as tough as cottonelle. CCatmosphere indeed

what made him.valuable in the regular season against the bruins is that he attacked chara religiously. They made the bruins play their game. Julien let bylsma play his game in the playoffs and counterpunches and steamrolled

I'd agree with that list. Give him another year, and Sutter could be a playoff beast.

Actually, to add to this, it makes you wonder how much of the Bylsma-system was generated, or influenced, by Fitzgerald. Maybe I'm way off on this, but it's food for thought. He's not our assistant GM... maybe we can demote him? :D

Assistant coaches are a lot more important than many people realize. Fitzy was awesome the way he managed the forwards during the cup run.

Our current ones are just as garbage as Bylsma. The whole staff needs to go.

Posted something similar in another thread. Our cup win vs Detroit. Goals from final 3 wins:

PP around the net
short handed
Malkin creates turnover in our zone leading to breakout
TK on a forecheck gets puck to pens player

Neutral zone turnover
Forecheck turnover

Forecheck turnover
Neutral zone turnover

Now, you tell me our roster doesn't have something to do with this at all? Yes, HCDB is a problem but we have little capable of doing this right now.

Awesome season, just had 2 or 3 bad games to end the year.

This would be easier to swallow if we hadn't flamed out in the early rounds vs Tampa, MTL, and Philly.

Losing in the Eastern Conf finals is not a failure of a season. Losing in 4 after losing in Round 1 and 2 in the previous 4 yrs makes this whole 4 year run seem like a huge wasted opportunity obviously.

For me it's not the sweep as much as it is the 2 total goals in 4 games of the eastern conf finals.

I wasn't in this thread at all during the game but I couldn't believe the obstruction and interference that was happening all game. I don't blame it for the loss but it really does make for a crappy brand of hockey. Hooks, holds, hitting guys without the puck. It was rampant. We're getting back to the late 90's style of play.
