I see a lot of parallels to the 2001 Steelers. Everyone expected them to steamroll the Patriots and Rams/Steelers was what everyone as waiting for just like Blackhawks/Pens. Just like that it was 14-0 Patriots, similar to the first two games. Only difference is that was a three hour gut punch while this was a 7 day torture.

Look it sucks how they got swept, but there were a lot of good times in this season and I'll remember that just as much as the shocking end.

Shocking ending - very good season though.

The Iginla trade didn't work out quite like we thought - but for me it was a treat seeing him in a Pens uniform.

I should be an interesting offseason for sure - and I still say this team will win a cup sometime in the next few years.

Let's go Pens!

Thank them for what? Inexcusably underachieving? Not showing up in the ECF? Unwilling to get to the dirty areas and pay the price to win? Did we even get a scoring chance tonight?

Penguins can kiss my ass. If someone asks, I'm an Islanders fan. Not as embarrassing.

Thank-you Paul Martin; you are 1 character guy. Why you wanted to stay in Pittsburgh after the flyers series, crazy. You earned my respect. Great D in the season and the play-offs!

I still love these guys. They are all working hard to win a cup so I can't be too mad at them. I loved seeing Iginla with the skating penguins on his chest. Wish he would have been hoisting the stanley cup and still hope he does. Just glad there was a season this year and am excited to see how everything plays out in the off season. Hopefully with a new coach we will see this team clicking again.

I just can't into the mindset that this was a good season. We won a lot. That was fun to watch, but I hate losing. More than anything, I hate losing to a team that we beat mercilessly for 8 of 12 periods and end up getting swept. The salt in the wound... Sid with another career threatening injury, we blew up our franchise goaltender, and we basically exposed the weaknesses of this team front to back.

I think that failure can be an excellent tool to motivate individuals and initiate change. Unfortunately, this is three consecutive disastrous endings, and the second that ended far short of expectations. I'm afraid that this team will make a series of adjustments that will change the product they put on the ice, but I'm also afraid they won't. I guess we'll see.

Agreed with the above. Great shortened regular season, Pens.

As long as Bylsma is the coach, I won't entertain any expectations for any potential playoffs. The emperor has no clothes.

I count it as four. Even though the team that lost to Tampa was short-handed it's hard to take blowing a 3-1 lead and losing game 7 1-0 at home. We had the same issues for several years, we've a lot of older and slower forwards, keep making the same mental mistakes, there don't appear to be good forward options in the pipeline, our young guys didn't get much experience this year, we don't seem to "get to our game" when it counts, and we were badly outcoached in 3 of the past 4 post seasons (maybe all 4). I can't think that anyone is completely safe other than Sid and most likely Geno.

That said, I'll be right back watching these guys next year and hoping for different results.
