I was just thinking that IF DB is let go, whoever the new coach is would have a ton of pressure on him to do a better job than the ECF. If a new coach lost in the first or second round or missed the playoffs, could you imagine the screaming and yelling. LGP would actually melt down. It would be epic.

Not necessarily. The roster could be very different come this fall, filled with young and unproven players who have very little playoff experience. At that point we would be relying both on coaching and veteran leadership (something this team has seemed to lack from its core in the big games), forcing the entire team to either pull it together or risk falling apart.

I think the pressure on any coach would be in forming a game plan that best suits whatever line up is on the ice, and one that shows the ability to adapt as the game goes on. Otherwise, we'll witness a team that gets frustrated once Plan-A goes awry and Plan-B never materializes.

They're discussing Bylsma's future now. I anticipate an announcement about an extension for BDFLDB around 8:52 p.m.

This is great news. You don't meet all day like this and do nothing. Thanks for the cup Blysma, good luck in New York or wherever you end up.

I've been told chances of Dave Tippett leaving Phoenix to coach another team is very unlikely. Tippett is currently building a house in PHX

Like I said, announce the extension now while the media in town is talking about Cole and the Pirates. It's brilliant.

If Ray Shero really is pushing hard for a Bylsma extension then my opinion of him has dropped significantly.

Its amazing to me that the Penguins would even consider bringing him back after four straight letdowns in the playoffs. This organization has big issues if they bring him back IMO.

contract extension and then fired midseason when the team quits on him. Sound familiar?

Pens can't be afraid to make the changes that are needed. Coaching is clearly one of them. Who freaking cares about Dan Bylsma, he'll be fine. He was what the team needed in 09 and he helped them win a title. Since he fully implemented his system, the Pens have seen wonderful regular seasons and post seasons that have been completely the opposite. Its not a fluke anymore their performance in the playoffs. Its a trend. And why in the world would they or the fans expect anything different to happen next year? I mean, he definitely won't get fired during the regular season, because the Pens will be great there.

Cut the cord Shero. Please.

That won't happen. This team loves him. And why wouldn't they? There is no accountability whatsoever and they hardly ever have full practices. They will have a very good regular season again and then flame out in the playoffs, again.

If this is true and Bylsma is kept, and the Pens flame out in the playoffs again next year, then Shero should be fired.

Yea, and Sid and Malkin both backed Byslma. Guess average is what they are happy with. That's fine. I'll be pulling for another team if this all holds true.

Yeah if this extension talk is true I have very little excitement for next year. Pens are trending towards the Canucks of the east.

Again, if Bylsma is kept on, then Ray Shero's job should absolutely be on the line next year.
