Why would they buy Read out? I don't think people understand how buyouts work...

I thought the knock on Grant was that he was constantly injured.

I don't think they can. Nor was Z still on the Flyers. And Read makes less than a million I think and is a pending UFA. There must have been a joke in there that we missed in context...

That and he peaked in juniors. He wasn't getting qualified anyhow...Shero is just getting his "help the AHL club with some vets" shopping done a couple weeks early. Grant wasn't even on my radar, so to speak, and I like to think my radar covers a lot of ground...he's no one. Not that Z is anyone either...but at least he might be serviceable to us one day, (I mean, literally for one day), Grant would never be...

I don't understand this move and it has nothing to do with any of that porn thing. He's like Cooke minus the talent and the discipline. All I know him for are thoughtless acts of trying to injure players and taking bad penalties (based on his time with the Flyers). Maybe Shero thinks Bylsma can straighten him out and make him provide actual value. Quiet a task.

I think he's destined for WBS, to fill out their roster. I doubt he'll be called up.

I'm thinking Shero is looking for him to at least try out with the big team.

“What attracts you to him is that speed and that he is physical,” Shero said. “He's never proven to be an elite finisher at any level, but he plays with a lot of speed and he's shown that he can be a bottom-six guy in the NHL.”

One thing about the criminal charge that sticks out to me:

He noted that Harding, a utility winger, and Zolnierczyk received vastly different treatment by the former ownership group.

"Harding was suspended from the team, while he [Zolnierczyk] went on to be named most valuable player," Baines said. "He sat in silence, while his friend was kicked off the team."

Not a shining moment of good character there, letting his friend take the fall initially. But that was a long time ago - so much personal growth happens in your 20s.

I don't think he'd come out and say "He's just a warm body for WBS". Even if he's thinking it.

Didn't they add something in the new CBA that prevents teams from doing this, or at least forces them to still have to eat the cap hit?

There is, I'm not sure of the details though

You can't bury his contract in the minors because it's a one way deal (Wade Redden Rule). However, I believe he could still be placed on waivers like any normal player. His cap.hit, however, would stay at the $1.1 million, if he were to clear.

Minimum salary next year is 550k.

The new rule in the CBA takes your contract - (minimum + 350K)

Simply put: Any player making over 900k next season can't be "burried"

Glass could be sent to minors but he will have 200k count vs cap while in the minors.

If Adams comes back we can have a line most capable of building a rocket.

What he did off the ice was immature and confirms a somewhat questionable moral compass but I bet most people forget all this if/when the guy gets an NHL shift and starts throwing the body.

As for the on ice stuff - compare his track record to Cooke's and whether or not you a) have praised Cooke for changing his ways, b) defended Cooke against a non-Pens fan, c) would like to see Cooke re-signed?
