So now...

...Hossa has won more cups than Sid, 2-1. And has played in more SCFs than Sid since '08, 4-2. :face:

I am over the Hossa hate. The guy is a hell of a player and Kudos to him on his champoinships. I believe the 2008 team that lost in the final is the best Penguins team since Sid has been here. We were just a little too young and the 2008 Wings were better than the 2009 Wings.

It is sad that the team that was just a little too inexperienced in 2008, and won it all in 2009 will still be looking to pick up veteran leadership at the deadline for the 2013-2014 cup run.

The debacle against Philly caused GMRS to over-react in this direction and make moves to make a team that had won 13 straight games older and slower going into the playoffs. All because he believed his core group, which has played more playoff series than any other, would melt down in the playoffs again.

HCJQ, 19 and 88 figured it out after being stymied early by the Bs. Deserving champions.

Oh and FU Chara.

No one should have ever hated Hossa really...he was a big help to a young team in 2008. And he didn't stop us in 2009. Good for him, he's a really terrific player...

He'd still be on Shero's contract if he took what people claim he was offered. :pop: Correct choice was made in summer 2008.

Well said. 87 is my favorite hockey player. By far. But seeing how Kane and Toews rose to the occasion and Sid (and everyone) failed to again when it was crunch time.......bothers me. At a time when he should be elevating his game, he is not. And it has not just been the Bruins series.

The next time the penguin players want a fancy tee-shirt go with the crawford quote:
"oh my God, we never quit."

Hawks a much better team top of the roster to the bottom.
Of course they incorporated youth and allowed youth to play the entire season.

I'm pretty sure the "top to bottom" idiom could not be less correct when comparing the Penguins and Hawks.

I am really happy the Hawks won and that goon, lunkhead hockey lost. And let me say with all of my heart:

I have no problem with Hossa winning another Cup.

I read last night there are only 9 Hawks remaining from the 2010 SC team. I know a lot of praise is heaped on Ray Shero and rightly so, but Stan Bowman did a nice job of restocking the team and building another Cup winner.

Bowman did a fantastic job and no one is going to say that it was "all Dave Tallon when he was GM" for this Cup and Quennville certainly showed that he's an elite HC who can make some adjustments(and get the players to follow) during very trying circumstances. You have to give the whole Chicago organization a lot of credit here.

You have to give Dan Bylsma credit too. Quennville was out the door if they lost the Detroit series and he turned the team around. Its a sign that Bylsma is a great coach. All hail Dan Bylsma!

I am fine with Hossa winning another cup. We got our revenge on him in '09, so as far as I am concerned, it was over at that point.

It was nice to see Chicago win the cup, as it gives me hope for the Pens to get #4 and their second cup with Sid / Geno. Chicago has a very similar model to the Pens - build around a core and fill in the rest. On top of that, they play a similar brand of hockey as we do. The blueprint has proven to be successful, hopefully RS, DB & Company make the right adjustments and get the cup back here.

Good points.

What bothers me is how Tukka Rask can play like a brick wall one series, and look very Fluery like in another.

That last goal was embarrassing.

Their top-end talent really isn't on par with the Penguins, but they fill that in with MUCH better role players--Stalberg, Bickell, Shaw, Bolland...plus their defense, I think, is more defensively sound. Bickell made every one of our bottom 6 players look like scrubs.

Maybe we need less Iginla/Morrows and more Bickells.

Hossa vs Sid?

Anyway, Hossa is really good and probably Chi's most consistent forward throughout the playoffs.
