Here's the bottom line, go find me a player better than Kennedy for less than $2 million. I'm not the biggest fan of the guy but with the cap what it is this year you accept him and move on.

paille only makes 1.5 or so. i imagine he gets PK time as well. but then you have a guy like rich peverly making over 3 mill. so 2 mill isn't awful.

Let me rephrase that, find me someone better then Kennedy on the open market for less than $2 million or someone willing to trade an asset like that for Kennedy.

Give him more responsibility and address it at the deadline if he bombs.

I'd rather find a player who can skate and piss people off. Kennedy can skate and shoot, and sometimes score, but the Pens are really lacking a forward that just makes you want to jump through the TV to throttle him. I'd rather spend the money on a guy like that, at this point. We're too easy to play against.

Well Zolnierczyk fills that roll on the 4th line now, right?

I don't think Zolnierczyk ever makes it out of the AHL. I think he ends up being depth down there.

Keeping Kennedy at ~$2 million would be a mistake if they were planning on keeping a bunch of the UFAs but since they apparently are not, on the flip side it'd be dumb to just walk away from him for no reason. He had a disappointing season but he showed in the playoffs that he can still contribute. Jokinen's in the same boat, as a fall back he's not a bad guy to have around at $2.1 million for the regular season, between his shootout skills, faceoff ability, PK, and scoring.

The penalties for being Matt Cooke could be classified as a liability. I think.

Oh...that's silly. Neal and Malkin take more stupid penalties than Cooke...

I meant the reputation penalties...you know a 2 minute boarding that turns into 5 and a game. Phantom interference calls and so on. Cooke rarely takes boneheaded penalties like Neal and Malkin.

WTF?

Kennedy was terrible for 40 games this year on the 3rd line. What more responsibility could you give the guy? He's a 4th liner making 2.0M.

He's terrible.

Had 2 big goals in the playoffs and everyone loves him again. Typical Kennedy 101. Goes INVISIBLE FOR LONG STRETCHES. TERRIBLE PLAYER. BORDER LINE NHLERS DONT GET 2.0M. He worked perfectly with Jordan Staal. That's it. Bye Tyler.

just because we signed kennedy's offer sheet doesn't mean he is staying here it just means we retain his rights and don't lose him for nothing.

I hope that this doesn't happen at the expense of losing Cook.

If we lose Cook, we can sign Cooke and we'll be ok. :pop:

There was no offer sheet. They tendered a qualifying offer and if he accepts it, he is signed.
