Where's the size and physicality?

Kunitz on the first.
Nobody on the second.
Nobody on the third.
Glass LOL on the fourth.

Considering the Bruins and Hawks iced guys like Lucic, Horton, Thorton, Bollig, Bickell, Saad, Stalberg, and Handzus for example, I'd say we don't match up very well.

I want us to acquire a big, bruising, tough forward for when the playoffs roll around. I don't know if Malone would be that guy, but it's a bit of a start. The only problem is his history of injuries. What about Clowe? Would he be cheaper than his previous contract considering his off year?

The Pens need to bring in a young player for this role. Someone fearless with a lot of energy.

The core are veterans now and have now played with high profile leaders such as Roberts, Morrow and Iginla; not to mention Recchi and Guerin. The need for a veteran presence is exaggerated.

Bingo. I don't want tough forwards that are 35 and over. Veteran leadership clearly hasn't worked.

No, you're flat out wrong. No one said that.

Now, what I said was you can't lose Letang for nothing, but that I don't think the Pens will miss much of beat without him. They have enough offensive studs to move forward. I'd much rather see our defense play more defense.

But, I also said I expect Shero to get him re-signed.

Anyone know if Zlobin could play in a bottom 6 role? Could he compete for a spot at camp? There's not much competition...

the pens aren't missing the playoffs with or without letang. so if you're going to stretch out that "no matter what", you might as well toss in a zombie apocalypse or something in there. it would be really effective in getting your point across.

On Briere... one of the surprising things I've been reading all season on Flyers's two forums I look at is that he lost his speed. I haven't watched him play much this year, but there is a red flag for you. His scoring is down. I would rather keep Dupuis, even if we have to pay him a million bucks more than Briere. I am not saying I wouldn't take Briere, just not at the expense of Dupuis.

Oh, you guys now what will happen if we don't sign Cooke. Flyers will throw crazy money at him and he'll be playing against us next year.

I think we absolutely need to keep Cooke. He's shown up for every game. Posters on this board have complained about his reputation and "baggage". I say: Get over it. He is a ferocious forechecker that brings it. Losing him will take a serious chunk of grit out of this team.

I agree regarding Briere. If he's lost the speed, we don't need him. Old and slow we've got plenty of.

I've never seen this either Hammer, but I don't have an index of the 41 pages.

I understand your argument for what its worth though. I don't agree with it, but it's not crazy.

I'd definitely rather have Cooke or Morrow at $2m than Jokinen.

Not to hijack the thread, but the Flyers just bought out Brz for $23M. They missed the playoffs and all their personnel gambles failed. So is Holmgren's job in danger? Can we trade Bylsma to the Flyers (for a bag of pucks)?

How is losing Letang directly proportional to missing the playoffs?

1.) Isn't Zlobin a small-speedy-sniper forward type? He would probably wouldn't fit in the bottom 6 nearly as well as Bennett did.

2.) Saying we get Letang for nothing is more realistic than some wild speculation about who we get back in a deal. I have no problem with that--it's like saying, at worst, this is what our roster could look like.

3.) Niskanen was paired with Letang to start the season wasn't he? Not like he hasn't been in the top 4 before (but he did have a bad post-season).

4.) I understand the Dupuis love, but once his wheels are gone--and who knows when that will be--he's going to be like Adams v2.0. If he wants a longer term deal...eh.

Scuderi/Niskanen would be a nice 3rd pairing.

The original argument was that there is a better chance at the Cup with Letang rather than without him. How it went to missing the playoffs, I have no clue.

I agree with Gaucho on a Scuds/Niskanen pairing. Would be great for both of them.

Also, anyone with a working mouse can freely wander into the "Letang salary" thread and clearly see that no one is advocating to trade Letang even if it means missing the playoffs.

Too bad. Philly will sign him to a mega deal and then buy him out a couple years before it ends.

Isn't Briere always hurt? Out of the two, I'd go with Simon Gagne, he's an injury case. He'd totally be Malkin's 2013 Sykora.

19 points in 22 playoffs games sounds like a pulse to me!
