Give me Scuderi in a split second....Briere no effing way. Not unless Shero is actually going to address the lack of grit/team toughness the Pens have lacked.

Bringing in quite possibly the softest of hockey players of all time to an already soft group equals disaster.

What about Ference? He's not going to be re-signed by the Bruins. :pop:

I love how TheHammer thinks its a good idea to let Letang walk in a year because having him for 82 games is so much more valuable than getting high picks and good players in return for 5-6+ seasons.

There are like 12 people in the USA that think that's a good idea and 12 million who think its ridiculous.

It's "maddening".

Answers, in order.

The Phantom Zone.
Low friction of the ice coupled with kinetic energy of the puck transfered from a stick.

I also agree with both statements.

So Letang is going to return and come back and fight Sid?

Decent. I'd rather see Kennedy traded and Cooke put back as the 3rd line LW. A distributor like Bennett on that line would make it all click.

Scuderi - Niskanen isn't a great second pairing, but Scuderi - Despres could be something. Move Nisky down to the 3rd line with any one of Bortuzzo, Engo, Dumoulin, Harrington and you're looking good.

I want Orpik to ride out his contract here, but I don't think we bring him back after the season. The youth movement on D is here.

Jokinen is a nice player, but Jokinen - Malkin - Neal doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. I think you need to bring back Dupuis and get one of him or Kunitz in that LW spot to make it work.

I was real upset when the Scud Missile and the USS Hal Gill left after the Cup. If Shero has been paying attention, he's seen the impact of losing a player/personality like Scuderi has on this defense. He's got so much of what this team needs on defense that it just makes too much sense to give him a competitive offer to come back.

Agreed, but doesn't that pretty well force Shero to admit that he "mis-calculated" in the first place? :pop:

Scuderi - Niskanen would make a very nice third pairing.

Not at all. Shero never had a bad word about Scuderi. he just didn't have the cap space to retain him.

On Briere... one of the surprising things I've been reading all season on Flyers's two forums I look at is that he lost his speed. I haven't watched him play much this year, but there is a red flag for you. His scoring is down. I would rather keep Dupuis, even if we have to pay him a million bucks more than Briere. I am not saying I wouldn't take Briere, just not at the expense of Dupuis.

Oh, you guys now what will happen if we don't sign Cooke. Flyers will throw crazy money at him and he'll be playing against us next year.

I think we absolutely need to keep Cooke. He's shown up for every game. Posters on this board have complained about his reputation and "baggage". I say: Get over it. He is a ferocious forechecker that brings it. Losing him will take a serious chunk of grit out of this team.

When I read about forwards we might aquire I think these guys sound an awful lot like Cooke. Then I read that some of you think that Cooke might have to go. So, what's up with that. Just resign Cooke. Duh.

Clutterbuck will supposedly will not be re-signed by Minny...give me him over Cooke right now any time! Younger, and just as physical, if not more.

Yes but if Minny doesn't offer him a tender, he becomes a UFA, right?

CSNNE.COM: Joe Haggarty reports a source claims Nathan Horton “will be looking for a 5-6 year deal in the range of $5.5-6 million per year if he hits the open market”but might be willing to accept a little less to remain with the Bruins, provided he gets the same term he’s seeking via free agency.

Would you rather have an old Dupius at $3.5, or a younger Horton at $5.5?

Dupuis.

To put what Horton wants in perspective, we're paying Neal $5 mil.

What does Paul Martin, a defenseman, have to do with Nathan Horton, a forward?

Indeed. Shero wasn't happy about having to let him walk due to cap constraints.
