Craig Adams has the framework of a deal done (Rumored)

Postby Kovy27 on Sat Jun 29, 2013 11:57 pm

KDKA is reporting via DePaoli that:

mike vukovcan ‏@mikevukkdka 24m
According to @TIOPS_DePaoli the Pens and Craig Adams have the framework for a deal. Likely to be completed on Monday or Tuesday.

So, take that with a grain of salt.

When has TIOPS ever been right about anything? Their credibility is up there with Eklund on the ignore scale.

This actually makes me feel more confident about tomorrow on the theory that the law of averages has to kick in at some point and it can't be all garbage all the time.

Re-signing Craig Adams should take about 10 seconds. If Shero et al want to keep him, it's a done deal. Adams isn't going anywhere unless the Pens decide to not offer him a contract...

It should take no seconds, since he should not be back.

Eh, I don't get the hate for Adams. He is what he is, but he makes peanuts, relatively speaking, and you're not going to replace him with a better player for that money.

Adams is an awesome player for the money. He deserves to be resigned.

I agree with both of you on some level, but if he signs and cooke signs what does this say about the pens farm system? We know they have no top six forwards besides BB, I guess they don't have any bottom six, penalty kill guys either. This team is getting old real fast, can't say I'm real impressed with RS and his drafting staff.

Wait did someone actually say that you can't replace Adams with a better player...? Any one of rookie Talbot, Armstrong, Kennedy, hell even Park or Connor would be an upgrade over Father Time.

I like the guy and he's obviously intelligent and plays well on the PK but he's as empty as an empty sweater can get...one thats now starting to get moth balls.

You CAN replace Adams, but you are going to have to pay someone more to fill his role. The Pens don't have anyone in the system ready to fill in (and clearly the team doesn't trust Vitale or Jeffrey to PK), and any upgrade is going to cost more $$$ in a year where the cap is down. Would you prefer to see TK playing in the top 6 so they can afford a slight upgrade to Adams?

The best quote on Adams I have ever heard:

"He's not much of a problem but he also isn't a solution."

The guy just does nothing. Look at the players who are on the bottom lines of some of the good playoff teams.

It's not hate. He's a dime a dozen, and you can get his same skill set for the same price with significantly more physical abilities. You know, because he's elderly.
