Not with the current makeup of our team. He really doesn't fit in anywhere except on Crosby's wing. He will get paid too much for a 3rd line wing spot and never really meshed well with Malkin and Neal on the second line. There is not room on the PP for him as well which is where he would be a big asset to some team. This team is just too stacked with top end talent for him right now and the Pens being up against the cap.

I would, if he is utilized properly. There is nothing wrong with forward depth and moving Bennett around from line 2 and 3. It is a long season, I don't think it's realistic to project Bennett to be a top 2 line player all 82 games.

Iginla, Crosby, Dupuis
Neal, Malkin, Kunitz
Bennett, Sutter, Cooke (Jokinen, I forgot about him!)

If we re-sign Iginla Jokinen needs to go...

Thinking Iggy is most likely gone the more I type this...

Not gonna lie: I want to keep Iginla. Even if it doesn't make sense.

I don't think we can afford Iginla, to be honest. Even if he takes a pay cut, it's going to be tight.

Would rather either spend it on guys to fill out the bottom (3rd or 4th line) or save it in case we want to add someone later.

But..But...Hal Gill won a cup here in 09, and hasn't aged in the past four years. I dont bring in a Dman unless they move Nisky.

Glad we didn't get clutterbuck too much for a 3rd/4th liner.

Because he scores the majority of his goals against the Pens.

I'd love to see Iginla stick around, but I don't think it will happen realistically. The rate for aging superstars in the twilight of their careers has been set by the Flyers with Lecavalier at 5 years/4.5 million per year. Pens don't have that kind of money nor should they pay it.

I just hope that before he retires, Iggy gets his Cup somewhere.

Lecavalier is younger and better than Iginla at this point. Iginla is also actually in the twilight of his career. Lecavalier is 33.

Bottom 6 needs to be young, fast, tough, and cheap.

Size would be nice as well but guys that are big, fast, and tough get PAID---- and probably cost too much for us to put on our 3rd/4th line.

I was really a Tanner Glass fan until this year. Not sure what happened. He should be everything we need/want in a bottom 6.

Vitale is a perfect 4th liner, no? I'd take 2 more of him and that could be our 4th line.

I would like to see them trade Jokinen and Niskanen. Sign Briere for 3 mil and have him play with Sutter on the 3rd line. If not him, maybe somebody like Danny Cleary or Mason Raymond. I like Raymond for his speed, might be a good addition.

I did until Dupuis was signed. Now, there's no room for Iginla :( I really thought Dupuis would hit the open market to Montreal, then the Pens would turn to Iginla. Now, I think Boston will hire Iginla to replace the more expensive Horton.

Perhaps I don't know enough about him, but I don't think I'd call him gritty based on what I've seen. He seems to get taken off his game when things get physical, which is why Nashville has tried to force him (unsuccessfully) into a top-6 role and give him more room.

This isn't even close to true. Iginla is an iron man, Lecavalier has been injured a lot the last few seasons. Not to mention that Iginla has outproduced Vinny on a much less talented team. Imagine Iggy on the Lightning PP.

Yeah, Iginla hasn't been playing with the likes of Stamkos and St. Louis for the past few seasons and has still produced well. I mean, there's been a decline, sure, but as DTMB said he is a warrior.

Nathan Gerbe was just put on waivers for buyout by the Sabres, I'd be a fan of him in Pittsburgh

...Calgary has had more power play goals than Tampa in 2 of the last 3 seasons and Lecavalier has produced at a greater rate at even strength than Iginla. Crazy.

If Iginla can be successful on line 3, then he can stay. I'm not sure we want his type of player on line 3, but I think he's too slow for line 1 and he has no chemistry on line 2 (Malkin). Soooo, yeah. I'm not sure where he fits.

I would like to see us sign a young third liner that matches Sutter's style of play. I really never felt he meshed with his line mates.
