Agreed no goons. Grit yes....

This team is seriously going to miss Matt Cooke if his minutes are not replaced by someone with a similar skill set.

Going to throw out the name Rich Clune LW NSH, as a possible replacement for Cooke. Carries only a $537,500 cap hit.
Scouting Report: Works very hard every shift and provides energy and agitating qualities. Is physical and also boasts plenty of solid defensive prowess.

Jamal Mayers, MArk Fraser, McGratton .. Mayers would be good choice for 4th line.. Fraser for bottom pairing, but we have too much D already.

Something about a 26 year old with only 61 NHL games under his belt gives me a bad feeling.

Zach Sill earned some NHL time this year. Big strong guy, not afraid to drop the gloves, goes to the net...

Pen's need to sign Brendan Morrow and trade Niskanen already so I can enjoy the rest of my summer, instead of constantly checking the internet for roster moves.

Well the Pens signed Matt D'Agostini for league minimum so that might round out the roster

Edit: too late

Scored 21 goals a couple years ago with the Blues, but hasn't done much else in the NHL.

At $550,000 solid pickup for 10 minutes a night on the 4th. Doesn't kill penalties though so not a 3rd line fixture or Cooke replacement. this will keep Zolnerczyk in WBS which is not a bad thing.

I'd say that the 21 goals shows that he has it in him. There are some pretty good highlights of him on YouTube.

The question is why the drop off from that season took place. It could be that he wasn't being used right, that he didn't fit the system that his teams were employing, or that his 21 goal season was a fluke.

At any rate, solid signing at a solid price. :thumb:

at the present, D'Agostini seems like he's a 3rd liner on this team.

He seems to play with a bit of a edge. He throws some big hits and isn't afraid to drop the gloves (he's no Arron Asham when it comes to fighting, but he's also no Semin :) )

This would probably bump Glass or Vitale up to the third line with current roster.

I actually was hoping the Penguins would get him. They actually got him on the super cheap, less than what he was making before, so its definitely a good deal. He does have some grit, will hit, has gotten into some fights before and does have the ability to score 10-20 goals. And he's young, only 26. Good fit to play with Sutter. We'll see how he plays, but I think he's fair equivalent to Tyler Kennedy for much less money. I think its a good signing. No way, he plays on the 4th line if he is up on the team. If D'agostini plays with Sutter all year on the 3rd line, he will score more goals than the entire 4th line (that's how poor the 4th line is in goal production).

My thinking is, do we really need Tanner Glass and Harry Zolneircyzk? To open up some space, I would throw in Tanner Glass in the upcoming Matt Niskanen trade.

I would make the following moves:

Trade Niskanen, and Glass
Resign Jeffrey, and Zolneicyzk

Is Jokinen the answer on the 3rd line or should they go after somebody like Damien Brunner? Who would you rather have?
