It is very obvious that any trade will be for draft picks. Ray is going to be looking for 2nd or 3rd rounders but, IMO, he is one draft too late.

You either need to be more clear about what the sarcasm is directed at or completely commit to the joke. :pop:

Niskanen and Glass for a physical 3rd line LW with 2M or less in cap hit. OR Niskanen, Glass and Jokinen for a physical 3rd line LW with 3.5M or less in cap hit.

Or just trade them for picks and sign B. Morrow to a one year deal.

Niskanen and Glass for picks. Sign Morrow (if he's available) right before camp, when he's most vulnerable and desperate for a job.

I always thought he'd be a serviceable player for a while, but he's just fallen so far.

Boyes?

35 points with the Isles last year and he had success together with Crosby in the WCs once (not that that in itself is a reason to pursue him).

He should get alot more than the 1 mil he got last year, but then again there hasn't been any market demand so far so maybe he'd be on for that again with the Pens?

Some notables still UFA - Brad Boyes, Dan Cleary, Simon Gagne, Milan Hedjuk, Peter Mueller, Mayson Raymond, Matthew Lombardi.... I'd be interested in inviting some of those guys to camp.

Add Maxime Macenauer to the list of potential camp invites. Fourth line center, with FO skills.

Mikey do you know if they would be looking at him as potential depth or could he crack the lineup? Would it be worth bumping Vitale for an even smaller less experienced albeit younger guy who also has FO skills?

It's not that it's worth bumping Vitale, but I just wonder how much the organization trusts Vitale. I, personally, like Vitale. But I get the vibe that the organization isn't sold on him. Macenauer would be direct competition to him. Fourth line ice time is limited by skill and lack of versatility. Adding a LHS center that is good at faceoffs to a line with a RHS center/winger that is good at faceoffs, allows for more freedom in terms of situational placement. Faceoffs on Vitale's "wrong side" (which is also, Adams' wrong side, for what it's worth), would no longer have to be taken by a weak faceoff taker in Tanner Glass. Continues to bolster speed and cycling ability. Tanner Glass is strong, Vitale and Mace are both industrial and show good work with their feet/lower body strength. Establishing the cycle for a line with limited puck skills is a great way to establish puck possession and manufacture offense out of inorganic situations.

This made me chuckle. Every side is Adams' wrong side.

it's cute for shero to try to tool around with the 4th line to make it something greater than the sum of its parts, but you can't run from that fact that two thirds of the line is adams and glass. nothing they do with that third spot is going to matter.

You're right. They probably should give up. There's no way Adams or Glass, two horrible players with zero redeeming qualities could ever be compensated for by any fourth liner, ever.
