Isn't Nick D'Agostino still in their system, though?

I realize at least one of them is a defenseman, but it would have been fundamentally amusing to see a line of Agostino-D'Agostino-D'Agostini in camp.

HOCKEY NEWS SCOUTING REPORT
Assets: Owns a very good shot, NHL skating ability and a goal-scorer's mentality. Can be an asset if used on the power play. Has played all three forward positions in the NHL.
Flaws: Lacks size and strength to win corner battles consistently. Disappears for extended periods of time, so he must find a greater level of consistency. Struggles as a bottom-six forward.
Career Potential: Inconsistent, yet versatile scoring winger.

Sounds like he may be playing for next years contract. Anything that increases camp competition has got to be good.

So basically, he's a guy with a top-6 skill set who does extremely poorly when forced into a third or fourth line role?

Sounds about right.

I'd say that he's a more offensively creative TK (and much cheaper)

Someone that can possibly contribute some offensive depth at a rock bottom price. Seems like a good pickup to me.

This guy will not sniff the top 6 unless several guys go down with injuries, and isn't cut out for bottom 6 duties. If he can't win board battles, he can't play the cycle game. Unless this is a 2 way contract to add some AHL depth in case of emergency, I don't get it.

Crosby
Malkin
Neal
Kunitz
Dupuis
Jokinen
Bennett
Jeffrey

All 8 are ahead of him for slotting into the top 6, as well as maybe Sutter.

Does anyone know when the press conference will be to introduce him?
Think Sutter will give up #16? Hope so, don't want any controversy...

This was the guy we signed this past season in March but then he didn't clear waivers right?

he has skill..... but i'm a bit worried that it seems this lineup is going to be insanely soft.

i wish there would have been a way to resign morrow for the third line.

D'Agostini should fit in nicely with Sutter. If they could sign Morrow to be the LW on that line, they would be set.

Think it'd be easy to package up Jokinen and Niskanen and get them moved? I'd still love Jokinen on this team just for depth, but I agree that we're lacking some grit.

Cheap forward depth to replace Jokinen, I imagine. Though seems a little redundant with Jeffrey already here and Chris Conner signed...

He reminds me of langostinos, and I like langostinos, so I think this is a good signing.
