Any takers on the excuse you guys give him next year for his 5th consecutive playoffs with a sub .900 SV%?

His goalie coach "retired".

IMFC wrote:I'm sticking to my assessment - Fleury is at his best when the puck movement is predictable and he relies on his reactions. He is very difficult to beat with 'skill'.

His huge weakness is a panic when things are unpredictable - turnovers, bounces behind him, and filly's chaotic side-to-side powerplay. I've said before that knowing this, Bylsma should play a system that minimizes those things.

That 'panic' mode CAN be trained out of him by a good therapist. To what extent? We'll see. 'Cause DB ain't changing.

I think most goalies don't play well when the defense in front of them is in full panic - leaving guys open, letting traffic beat them to the front. It's not rocket science. When Vokoun let a softie in early in game 1 of the Ottawa series - the penguins just kept scoring goals, even though there were plently of rebound chances given up by Vokoun - the defense was there to clear the puck. Craig Anderson went from the greatest goalie of all time to looking like a joke because the Penguins were simply the better team.

After seeing a recent episode of "Through the Wormhole" I'm convinced that Fleury needs Alpha-Theta training. Some Doc out in Cali hooked a vibrating meter up to back of people's necks, (vibrates more when brain is in right state). After an hour a bunch of untrained people could shoot bulls-eyes with bows and arrows. She described the device as training people to be both focused and relaxed at the same time.

I saw that episode. It was pretty interesting. The whole thing was basically about training people to relax/focus. The meter they had was just basically alerting them when they were physiologically relaxed.

So how do I get my hands (or my neck, I guess) on one of these biofeedback devices? My two weeks of hell are rapidly approaching, so time is of the essence.

He should probably take up yoga and meditation.
If he already has, then we're doomed.

I have no idea why every goalie in the league doesn't practice yoga. Though I also don't know how many actually do...
Nothing teaches like flexibility + control like yoga.

I know I was more physiolocically relaxed when Vokoun was in the net during the playoffs.

Infinity plus infinity could easily be close to zero as it is to an insanely large positive integer. In the same vein, it could also be an insanely large negative integer.

I expect Fleury to come out of the tunnel for his first game mumbling...
