I heard he knocked a senior citizen down, then kicked a puppy while cutting to the front.

I think you mean the person who established or applied the policy, but I'd like to talk to the person who ran to the media in a huff.

It was apparently the wife of a PG editor who happened to be there at the same time.

So Mrs. PG Editor exploited her connection to push her story about her inconvenience onto the public? That's what it looks like to me. Superstar treatment, indeed.

How many times has this policy been effectively enforced before without incident?

I hope the policy is abolished and next time she's in line waiting for 4 hours because the DMV looks like a One Direction concert. That extra 20 minutes once every four years (maybe two if she loses her license!) won't seem like such a big deal.

Truth told, I cannot believe there is a manual at the DMV that contains this written policy.

Why is that? There have been celebrities in Pittsburgh since way before Sidney Crosby. This is just the first time some uppity house wife with connections was inconvenienced because of it.

You're probably right, penny. I imagine it's a matter of practicality employed at the individual employee's or manager's discretion. Maybe now there will be something codified saying you can't do it under any circumstances.

It's so August. Start camp, already.

Not giving you a hard time, but ehhhh :? (She could be Secretary General of the UN and I'd still think the story holds little weight.)

It isn't an issue now. Except to 2 whiny women. Ms. Campbell and Mrs. "I'm married to an editor at the P-G!"

I bet these women are the type to verbally abuse the clerks at the DMV once they get to the counter.

I used to work with a guy who, I swear, had his state and federal reps and senators on his work speed dial. I'm all for civic duty but not for walking around with a self-induced permawedgie.

LOLOL!!!

This seems like a story just so all of the media personalities can go at each other just to drive up ratings all around. Expect more of this coming up with the Stillers likely sucking so bad this year.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Campbell's daughter, who was also there, said if Sid had to wait in line she would have called down all of her friends and sent out photos, and if she was at home, she'd be down there in a heartbeat.

I had not thought of that angle at first. Then they'd have complained he drew a crowd that made it difficult to get in and out of the DMV.
