If the Penguins do not receive the TIGER grant, "then we have to look," Mr. Peduto said. "That's a different scenario."
The SEA failed to secure an $18 million federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER, grant to help fund roads, utilities and other infrastructure-related work at the 28-acre site in the lower Hill District.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced the award of $474 million in funding for 52 projects in 37 states today under the TIGER program today, but the arena project was not among them.
"It's a disappointment and a setback," SEA executive director Mary Conturo said
