Sometimes it's necessary to complain about the job our forecheck is doing, sometimes it's necessary to complain about a bad line change, sometimes it's necessary to complain about a goal that we gave up, or even officiating...but when all it ever is is just whining and whining and whining...people just don't want to do deal with it.

90% of the posts certainly are not about officiating. That is absolutely absurd to say that.

The last three games have been horrible in defensive play after a great start where I'm pretty sure there was no whining.

Stop spoiling the narrative with the facts.

I'm getting the feeling that Edmonton just used everything they had left in the 2nd, I expect the Pens to dominate in the 3rd.

I don't usually whine about officiating but the failure to immediately blow the whistle when Fleury lost his helmet combined with the refs missing the net being off the moorings for a good 30 seconds before a whistle were egregiously bad.

So does Maatta need to outplay Niskanen to stay? It's funny Niskanen is playing some good hockey relatively speaking compared to other defenseman not named Martin, Scuderi, Maatta and Bortuzzo.

One needs to go when Vokoun is healthy.

I thought it's because the Pens are/were winning too much.

I'll speak for myself. I'm not camping out in the GDTs mostly because of other stuff going on right now. But I'm still regenerating after my Bucco hangover, too--the last 3 weeks of the regular season and playoffs wore me out.

I look forward to the Pens crashing Hanna Barbera's net in the 3rd! Let's go, Pens!

Yeah, you shouldn't need slo-mo to get those calls.

Not allowed to have an opinion on the officiating, especially when the goaltenders mask is off for 20 seconds or when the play is in the defensive zone and the net is 5 feet off the moorings or when you feel perhaps Geno is being prevented from making plays due to penalties. It's the job of the referees to call what they see and this is a public message board, I'll say what I feel about what I'm watching.

The Pens seem to be the Oilers' best PK'ers

Also, a lot of people who are dual Pens / Steelers fans are probably still recovering from the bridge-jumping injuries they sustained in the last month or so.

That and helping a guy off the ice when his skate breaks. I also think that calls that involve player safety (e.g. hits from behind) deserve comment. The clutch and grab stuff bothers me too but that's like balls and strikes in baseball. Unless it's insanely one-sided it's just the way the game is called.

That was a solid shift.

Every line except for the 1st and 4th seem to be out of sorts. Guess that's what injuries get you.

I think that's contributing to the bad defensive play.

Yeah, that's part of what I was getting at. The line shuffle has definitely impacted the strategy.

Just making sure the refs could see it (is that type of comment permitted?)
