Oh, and Malkin's a joke.

yup, he is...when he starts to put shift after shift and game after game together, i'll be sold.

As of now, he's a great talent that is messed up in the head.

When you find that a forward averages over a point a game for his career, has a Conn Smythe Trophy, a Calder, a Hart, two Art Ross Trophies, a Ted Lyndsey, and a Kharlomov Trophy I think you have to say that he's done that. Is he a bit enigmatic? Yes. But I'd like to be as good at what I do as he is and so would you.

That's nice and when he won those trophies he was on his game. Over the last few years he's been completely inconsistent, save for his 109 pt year. If we're paying a guy top dollar, I expect him to show up 100% of the time. Sure players will have bad games, but Malkin seems to have way more disappearing acts and brain farts than a Conn Smythe, Calder, Hart and Art Ross trophy winner should have. That's my point.

His faceoffs are finally over 50%, but again, a small sample size, let's see if it continues. It would be GREATLY welcomed if he's finally taken that step in that area of his game.

The guy has been hurt off and on. This is the first year in a long time that he and Sid have both been healthy for any stretch. You have some very unrealistic expectations. There aren't 4 forwards in the NHL I'd rather have than Malkin over the past 7 years not matter what lapses he's had.

Not saying that Maata is as good as Martin or Letang right now, but the way he plays is like a combination between the two. The little play he made along the boards; I thought it was paul martin at first

And I'd argue we've been doing a better job controlling the puck in their zone.

I agree as well, it seems like after Fleury's flub they just decided to put the puck on net every time they enter the zone.

So has Sid.

When Malkin starts to play more consistent like he can, I'll be happy with him. I just know there's SO much more he can bring. Of course even as 65% Geno is better than half the league, but I know what he can do!

Watching him throw blind passes on to opponents sticks is not what he can do. This guy can take over games and look like friggin Lemieux! I want to see that dominant force much more consistently. When he brings his game like Sid does nightly, I'll lay off him, but as of now, he needs to work on being consistent if we want to have a chance to win the Cup.

Three things:

1. This game seems to be flying by
2. We don't seem to me to be at as much of a disadvantage as the shots would indicate
3. Sid's got his two to keep the average up - now get three and four to get us two points against a pretty good Canucks team

Orpik = has never had a quality shot... First pass mediocre at best... Was never swift and has even lost a step... and is not playing as physical as he once did... Which means he's overpaid for what he brings on a team with cap issues.

I like the guy. Always have. He's a leader in the lockeroom and this team needs that... But it's time to start lowering his minutes played.

Why is everyone tearing into Orpik after that goal?

The Malkin line made a horrible change, didn't even hustle to get off the ice either. Thus leaving him and Martin defending an odd man rush. Martin steps up and leaves Orpik alone, and now everyone is on Orpik?

To be fair to Geno, this game he's either centering a line with 1.5 wings or 1 wing.

Orpik and Martin , the supposed shut down duo, cannot even shut down the vancouver fourth line

The shots don't reflect the play. Even game.

Malkin's playing fine today.

We're also only down in attempted shots 39-31, FWIW.

So they should be able to defend all odd man rushes?

As was posted above, Malkin's line changed at a horrible time and glided to the bench.

I'm starting to think the Kobasew experiment on his line is over, but we don't have many options right now.

However, Sid made it work with Armstrong and Hilbert night after night.. Geno should still be able to be effective. Need to stop making excuses for him.

Another PP with no zone time, no setup.

Now watch for Vancouver to get a PP soon.
