this is why people complain about the misses on all these PPs so much. Pens let the Isles and Avs stick around and then blow it late because they cant finish or put anyone away.

just a horrible meltdown in a matter of a few minutes.

Yup. Plus a great deflection for their second goal. He gave his team a chance to win. Pens PP blew it.

Nope. He played as well as a solid backup should be expected. So much better than the Florida game.

Looked a bit similar to last postseason. In those games though, we were badly outplayed for long stretches. Didn't get that feeling tonight.

None of those were Zatkoff's fault. That save he made the second before the last goal was unreal.

and he shouldn't be?

It's the same old Letang, it's not a rusty Letang. The guy still can't hit the net, he still can't get pucks through, he makes poor decisions, weak turnovers.

Oh, but he's a great skater and has great flow.

I didn't say he doesn't deserve it, just that he did it in only one game.

I'm not used to seeing them lose in such a laughable fashion before April.

If Orpik had been where Maatta was you would be crucifying him. I don't care if you go after Orpik everyday, at least be consistent.

Yeah, no reason for Maatta to be all the way up at the blue line.

Ugh. That hurts.

Kobasew needed to clear the zone on the 3rd goal, but there's no need for Maata to be out by the blue line with 2 forwards still in the zone behind him.

The 4th goal was another Letang special...others have covered the details.

lol this is Letang though. He isn't going to change. You get beautiful skating with brainless decisions.

Just like Malkin. And we get them for the next decade. Should be fun.

So

Win in October = wait till April
Loss in October = looks like April all over again

Letang's first game of 2013, Defenses first meltdown of 2013, coincidence?

Whipping Boy should be Sutter.. Someone explain to me what he's been able to do for the team since his arrival (besides a could of games where he scored 2, like the Boston game)

The thing about Letang is that his brain is in the freezer, no matter how many games he has played.

I don't remember too many goals scored against us when he's on the ice for one.

Similar in that our offense is based on the perimeter and fancy play. Their offense is all crashing the net and getting ugly. Back and forth chances and roller coaster of emotions.

Exactly. Except this game looked nothing like April. We didn't get outplayed. We owned the play. Difference was the Pens couldn't score on the PP and had a couple bad defensive breakdowns that the Isles cashed in on.

They really have got to learn how to win 2-1 games and how to put teams away. Islanders had no business being in this game.
