I couldn't find anything on Liberty after the game for $50 and started a thread about it?

No one ever said Mike Milbury was smart...

Did he say why he thought the Pens would even consider that?

Not from what I see, I came into the room midway, they were talking about how Brodeur said if the Devils would be interested in trading him that he would be ok with that, Millbury said backing up Fleury would be perfect for Brodeur, I guess since the Pens are favorites for the cup as always and that MAF has always looked up to Brodeur, not saying that I agree with it just found it interesting.

It's not ridiiculous, if the Devils are interested in getting an asset for Brodeur before he retires, and are willing to give Marty a last shot at the playoffs. The Pens are most certainly going to be looking for a backup if Vokoun is still on the shelf come trade deadline. Brodeur's not a bad guy to have on the bench in a pinch. So it makes sense to me.

I'd wonder if it'd be a good thing or a bad thing for Fleury though, to have his idol waiting in the wings. It'd certainly be interesting, so long as his cap hit could be made to fit, and the price wasn't more than a 2nd rounder.

Most certainly the demand will be a 1st rounder, plus, yes?

For a backup goalie? Don't think so. I think the Sabres will be hard pressed to get anything more than a 1st for Miller, if even they can manage that, and he's a top flight starter. Brodeur at this point is just a backup rental. If the Devils get more than a 2nd it will only be because some GM gets sweaty palms as they're writing out "Martin Brodeur" on the trade form.

All I know is, it's going to be great when the Devils get a top 3 pick and have to forfeit it away.

Brodeur should come rather cheaply. He is not even the goalie he was last year. He is a shell of greatness that I hope never leaves NJ because it breaks my heart when all-time greats who have played with the same team their entire career have some awkward last season team change at the end of their career.

If Milbury were in Shero's shoes right now, he'd be offering NJD Maatta, Pouliot, Bennett, and our next two first round picks for Marty...and then he'd sign him to a 10-year, $100,000,000 contract.

Well said Mikey287.

But it would be up to Marty if he wanted one more chance at a cup. He has a no trade clause. But i doubt anyone will make an offer for him.

Me and some others I know would lose our minds if the Pens got Brodeur. It'd be incredible.
